Much better 2nd half after a poor 1St...hopefully this is the start of his season

When, due to their 10 men,his defensive duties were less of an issue and he had more freedom to dictate.

He's been playing those balls for a few games now, but in previous games the team lost and he didn't get the credit for his performances.

Today was a day when the whole team performed.

He got MOTM. Links up play very well, everyone just passes to him and he keeps our play ticking.

Who from?
His attacking was good. His defending was rank.
Push him up the pitch away from defending and we will have a good season. Him him in a defensive role and we will have a new manager in the summer.

Since YAYA came to our club he has always been the same we should all know that and live with it, because he has delivered the trophies on the field while he's been here... A world class player on the ball and very average it off it that's YAYA

To some extent "he's always been the same", but he is ageing and the physical issues will only increase. He's still a great sight when he picks up the ball and gets up a head of steam. But he's slow over the first 10m. He can run in straight lines but not so well from side to side. If he's caught flat footed he has the turning circle of a cruise liner. It takes him a while to get his breath back after a barnstorming run. He's always been like that but its becoming more noticeable these days. The criticisms of him being being lazy have generally been unjustified, its more to do with his physique. But he's not going to change physically for the better.

The question really is whether the things that he does well, like the pass leading to our goal yesterday, justify keeping in the team as our main playmaker. Whether City accept his physical limitations and set up the team to compensate for them. I still think he brings plenty to the team. We're simply not as good without him. And we dont have a ready made replacement. But we will have to find one.

Re: Yaya?

He was excellent yesterday, as he invariably is against the rags.

Fail to press and give him time to play, and he'll always hurt you because he's such a good passer - the ball through to Clichy was beautiful, as we're another couple he slipped in for Navas and Zaba. Get in his face early on and he can struggle. That's been his 'problem' this season, as it has been for the past three - has nothing to do with any nonsense about 'not trying' etc.

Re: Yaya?

Trying to stay neutral and objective here.
I find it hard to understand how on earth he could be picked as motm. Until the sending off, he was pretty much invisible, someone United just passed through, or walked by, in their attacks. Maybe the club had arranged a deal with Sky to name him motm in order to boost the big mans confidence.

However, with more time on the ball, with less pressure from the United midfield, he immediately looked much better, and once Fernadinho came in, Yaya could finally play in his best position, as an CAM. With both Fernand's behind him, he could focus on attack only. In that position he is still one of the best players in the world. Why on earth he is not always played there I do not understand.

He doesn't play there because 1. That is where Silva operates, you start Yaya there and that area becomes too congested with our two most creative players tripping over each other and 2. Because Yaya doesn't( can't) press well enough, if Yaya is in that advanced role it gives the opposition's deep plying playmaker too much time and space to dictate the play.

Silva is equally efficient working from one of the wings, drifting into the channels, cutting inside. I would prefer to see Manuel drop his two-man strike force against strong opposition, play with Kun as a lone striker with Silva/Jovetic/Nasri/Navas/Milner working to his left and right. This would allow for Yaya to be played behind our front three, dictating our attack.
