Wow.....

Each to their own but nothing within my control would have stopped me attending a family funeral.

Even if say perhaps that family member had said to you if I should die while you're at the WC it is my desire that you stay and play?

I can only speak for myself but i'd have politely informed them different.

Fair enough, as you say each to their own. I'd personally have respected their wish.

Neither Yaya or kolo went to the funeral...

Looks rather like they both had more important things on their minds.

Leave it out with the crass remarks, completely uncalled for.

Who died and made you God...?

There is nothing 'crass' about my remarks... On the evidence available, I can only conclude that neither Yaya or Kolo showed appropriate respect for their late brother, their family, or their religion.

Yaya's subsequent actions and allegations in relation to his 'treatment' by Manchester City FC lead me to believe that he is not a decent person, and is not to be trusted. I fully expect that the club's hierarchy to have reached much the same conclusion. I suspect that he is only being played in order to maintain a transfer value.

Yaya Toure is a rotten apple - The sooner he leaves City the better.

Ibrahim Oyola Touré was buried on July 4 in the Williamsville cemetery in Abidjan in the presence of brothers Yaya and Kolo, the Touré family and friends and many representatives of the Ivoirian football community.

The funerals took place according to the Muslim rite at La Riviera Great Mosque.

A former striker of Lebanon outfit Al-Safa, Ibrahim Touré passed away on June 19 at age 28 in Manchester after a battle with cancer as his elder brothers were competing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the Ivoirian national team.

Yaya and Kolo had heard the sad news following Côte d’Ivoire’s 1-2 defeat to Colombia in Brazilia in their second Group C encounter, but decided to remain with the squad ahead of a crucial final Group stage clash against Greece.

I'm pretty sure that it was reported that Ibrahim wanted his brothers to go to the World Cup...

It was.

I think some of the things that have been said in this thread are ignorant and insensitive to a City player who has had to deal with the tragedy of losing his brother.

Fans taking the moral high ground because of a "cakegate".

Has anybody on here been through the pain of losing a brother to cancer?. Do you think you just get over something like that in a few months?, or do you think watching your brother slowly lose a battle with a cancer until he eventually faded away, may have a profound effect on you and your life?.

I wish people would stop bringing up "cakegate." It was a stupid move by his agent. Most fans saw it as such, had a laugh, and moved on.

The moral high ground that fans are taking is about what Yaya did to the club AFTER he returned from the WC. He publicly lied about City not allowing him compassionate leave to see his brother before he died. He did so in an attempt to force a transfer. In the process he significantly damaged City's brand in parts of the world. If you think that he should be forgiven because he was "mourning" then so be it but get your facts straight before you get on YOUR moral high ground.

Re: Yaya?

Yaya's Ivory Coast team just qualified for this January's ACN Tournament with a 0-0 draw to Cameroon this afternoon.
(Both teams were happy with this result!)

Wasn't on my moral high ground - whatever the fuck that means.

So what if he wanted to leave, is that any worse than you wanting him gone now?. I think we all knew what Yaya or more to the point his agent was like before he signed with us. He will leave probably sooner rather than latter but you've got to ask yourself if he did push for a move and didn't get it, who stopped it from happening, the club?. It may have been better to let him have his move away (if that's what he wanted) but something prevented that from happening.

I don't give a fuck either way, I was only asking if maybe his thoughts were a bit overshadowed by the death of his brother, I didn't say he should be forgiven.

Also how did he "significantly damage City's brand in parts of the world"?, I'd love to know how you quantify that. Actually I wouldn't, I can't be arsed.

Why don't you tell us what it means since you are the one who brought it up.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I don't care that he wanted to leave, I care that he slandered the club in the most disgusting way in his attempt to leave.

If you don't understand the clubs desire to expand into other markets (like say Africa where Yaya is a GOD) then I think we should leave talk about marketing and branding alone. Come back when you actually know what you are talking about.
