We kept playing him last season when he should have been dropped.Great player but can't play in a two man midfield, especially in europe. Pellers shoulders the blame for either not realising this or being too stubborn to change.

Not sure Pellegrini had many options but to play him given the injuries
Yup, pretty much agree. Before it was a debate as to whether the positives he provides when we have the ball outweighs the negatives of when we don't, but I'm not sure it's even a debate anymore. He no longer dominates games, he has a few great moments and his defending has gone from bad, to terrible, to may as well not even be there. We are desperately in need of a replacement and it was pretty apparent last season. He still has his moments though, but they aren't worth how easy he makes it for opponentsThought he had 3 or 4 exceptional moments in the first half but too many times he was a liability. He used to walk when players glided past him straight through our midfield, now he simply stands
