Great player for us but we should not be building our team or tactics to accommdate him. We have had the best we are going to get from him and we now need a transition to the next generation.

I don't see why he can't sit deeper with Fernandinho plus Fernando or Delph or A.N. Other providing the legs, breaking from midfield etc with any two of Sterling, DeBruyne Silva, Navas Nasri behind Aguero, at least in big games.

Then he can break forward or the Ferns can, when it suits, & we still have cover, also for tge fullbacks to go forward.

It was so obviously a problem v Seville having a man short. It's ok v Bournemouth or Newcastle at home but not v better teams.

I'd agree with that. Without him we struggle to get the ball to our creative players.

Some people have short memories. If it wasn`t for Yaya playing higher up the pitch we wouldn`t have beaten Seville. Instead perhaps we should take into account who his fellow striker was today and admit that him in the No 10 position with Bony up front doesn`t work.

No, you should admit he was shite, which he was. A proper no 10 would have won us the game rather than fucking up every single counter attack.

That's not his position though is it. Pellegrini picked him there so surely he is as culpable. We were no better at all offensively when he went off.
No but it seems to be a rule, that Yaya has to play. Time that stopped imo.

He can still be a great player for City but if the formation works better without him for certain games, then bench him.

I agree but that's purely Pellegrini's job to decide. He is a bit like Rooney it seems. If fit, he plays.

You have to remember though that in the first 5 games he played them all and we won them all.

In the game against West ham, he was the one who was driving us forward.

He had a hand in both goals against Seville.

Even against Spurs, we were awful when he went off. Today we didn't do a thing offensively when he went off. He seems to cop a lot of the blame. He was no worse than Sterling or Bony today but I agree he wasn't great.

He is not a No 10 and he can't play in a midfield two , personally when Delph is fit in big games I'd play a 3 of Delph Fernando and Fernandinho and give Fernandinho the free role in midfield. Yaya was struggling to keep up with the pace today and was sad to see

On the ball there is very few players in world football who are better.

Off the ball there are very few players in world football who are worse.

You can't play in him a deeper midfield role without severely compromising our team defensively because he doesn't track runners, he doesn't close people down and he just doesn't work hard enough or show enough appetite to regain possession. You can't play him in the No.10 role because he doesn't make runs past the striker and he doesn't find space in between the lines like a Silva or De Bruyne does. Whether its down to fitness, injuries or a lack of appetite it's completely irrelevant - his on the ball talent no longer justifies a place in a team with the ambitions to reach the final stages of the Champions League. At this level you can't afford passengers, you can't afford luxuries who aren't prepared to work hard. It's been obvious for 2/3 years unfortunately.

I was expecting more from him today, to be honest. He normally comes to the party in the so-called "big" games. He did very little today. To be fair to him though, he wasn't on his own in that regard today.
