Some of yaya's passing was fantastic yesterday especially early on he faded as the game drew on but that was expected after a long hard 90mins in turin on Wednesday night! He was playing as a number 10 yesterday so didn't really have defensive responsibilities! Hopefully he will be rotated with silva know for the rest of the season with 2 off the other 3 playing behind him!

When will people understand that Yaya can't/won't be dropped when he's our only CM with real passing ability? There's a reason we always struggle going forward with a Fernando - Fernandinho pivot.
Completely agree with this. Yaya is the lynchpin between defense and the attackers on breaks. He also adds fluidity across the width of the pitch - something that Fernandinho does a little and Fernando does not add.

He is often the pass behind the assist from silva or Kdb.

Most people on here minimalize that contribution, but it is an important aspect in Pellegrini's system.

Love Yaya but sometimes I feel he needs freshening up. Perhaps a few games break or a couple of 45 min appearances.

Was sat near some right miserable loud mouthed bastards yesterday in Colin bell stand, who did nothing but moan about him. They were almost willing him to fail, just so we could hear their humourless observations.

This type of supporter I just don't understand. We all have our favourites, and we can all see Yaya is struggling, but why take pleasure in seeing him struggle, which they absolutely were doing.

It was like a game of shit humour top trumps.

Exactly this

I agree and at his age its essential that he concentrates on playing that role. In years to come one of the enduring memories of Yaya will be the sight of him running like a train, scoring that 4th goal against Villa. But he should no longer even try to do that. He needs to curtail his attacking intent, focus on his passing game. His critics continually complain about him not getting back into defensive position. The truth is the criticism should be about him trying to get forward too much. It was ridiculous to see him and Fernandhino both in the Juventus penalty area just before they scored.

At the start of the season when Silva was playing in front of him in the 4231 he looked a much better player. Silva's physical presence pushed Yaya back a bit deeper. And Silva's presence in the side always make our better players play better because they have the option of giving him the ball on the edge of the box rather than trying to do too much themselves.

Need to get a replacement in for him jan 1st. If we are not to win the league it will be because we keep on picking toure despite him being well, well below par this season. Very similar to the Rooney conundrum down the road but yaya is more destructive as he's in the middle of the park

You should not talk of the Chairman like this!

His abilities technically are unquestionable but we looked better without him today in terms of closing down as a unit. Makes sense really as in order to close down properly you need ten men capable of doing it. Unfortunately Yaya does not do that.

If everyone is fit in the big games do you drop Yaya and play Silva in his best position or keep Yaya and move Silva wide? Now that we have great potential on the break I would be reluctant to drop Sterling, Navas or De Bruyne to ensure Yaya keeps his place.

If we face a team completely vulnerable to yaya's power then he should play but if our defensive gameplan involves closing down intensely then in my opinion, he shouldn't. I noticed that Manuel mentioned him post-match which would suggest Yaya is still high in his thoughts
