Players made scapegoats and unfairly treated by fans

I think confidence plays a huge huge part no matter what level you play at (remember Gary Birtles years ago banging them in for fun At Forest then couldn’t score at Utd confidence shot so funny )
Look at the difference in Stones with his confidence back

I just think it's a whole different world if you're a goalkeeper. The nature of the job is that if you make mistakes fans will turn on you. I feel for Bravo but I totally reject the idea that it was a case of him being unfairly scapegoated, he was criticised because he was rubbish. Then, later, when he put in some top displays that won us cup games, he was rightly praised.

For me the sign of a scapegoat is when even their great performances don't get much praise from the fans. Rodri and Zinchenko are two great examples of that. Both have been playing at an extremely high level almost all season but the general consensus from most City fans is still "been decent yeah but we need to strengthen in that position this summer".

if you do factor in Hart he was our worse ever signing.

Can only speak for the modern era (as I'm too young to remember anything earlier than Keegan) but it's hard to disagree. Came in as our #1 and lasted until I think around January before Pep decided we were better off with Caballero.

Is it just us as City fans or all football fans ?
we don’t seem to be happy unless we are criticising our own players
Like someone else said we have amazing players winning trophies and sweep all before them but we are still critical
Good knows we don’t have a bad player they are all playing in the top league and are all internationals

Bravo was a worse signing than Santa Roque Cruz then

Imo all players get a fair and balanced welcome when they join. We all want them to succeed but some won’t work out for a lot of reasons and their personality/work ethic dictates the fans response. Players will typical fall into 1 or more categories:

Player was crap and we were caught.
Talented but not a great fit for the team.
Lazy player with talent
Players who only play for City due to wage offered.

The min requirement is to have a good work ethic. To wrap it up, yes players do get unfairly treated at times but if they put in the hard graft most of their inadequacies will be overlooked. Long contracts don’t help the flop signings and leads to animosity towards them which can get out of hand at times.

Sort it out Txiki:)
