Cheers. I have recently read Pep Confidential and l believe it is the video analysis that Pep favours and rightly so. He clearly finds it nice to know that his team had seventy odd percent possession in a game, if someone tells him, but he already knows if his team kept the ball well and used it well from being on the touchline. However, whilst video analysis is hugely important, it does mean his analytics guys can't use various performance indicators to help identify strengths and weaknesses in both their own team and opponents. I would think you can use the numbers to speed the process of analysis up e.g. Does a team favour attacking down one flank, which you can discover very quickly from statistics rather than watching a series of games. The trick is in combining all the available tools to provide the manager with the information he needs to prepare for games and training sessions.
