Players who have left us under a cloud or on bad terms?

Neil Young was screwed over big time with City not giving him his deserved testimonial. I think it was Alison who promised it to him when he sold him to Preston.
Neil was a great guy and I couldn’t believe it when his son Mark joined my class at Lane End Primary school in Cheadle Hulme. We became very good friends and Neil would take us fishing up at Alderley Edge. Eventually, Neil had to sell his house and moved the family away to Handforth as he was really struggling working at Topps Tiles. A sad story on how a City legend was treated, but for me I cherish the memories of him to this day.

Yes I really felt for Neil Young. I remember some paper publishing a picture of him doing a milk round once, so he must have been a milkman at some point. It annoys me when they mention Bell Lee and Summerbee as legends but omit Young. He scored lots of vital goals including the winner in the fa cup final and also a goal in the European cup winners cup final.

That right. I also remember that article by the disgraceful MUEN. They had a journalist hiding behind a hedge apparently just waiting to get a picture of Neil being a milk man when he was struggling. It was very embarrassing for him, and he was just trying to make ends meet. The milkman job was around the time he moved to Cheadle Hulme. He also was giving it a go with his father (I think) in the moving business. He has a big moving truck parked on his driveway for a while, but that didn’t work out. After that, I think he ended up at Topps Tiles at Stanley Green and then I lost touch when he moved away to Handforth.

Yes you're right I still can see the picture in my mind's eye. I've no idea why the club treated him so badly. His life didn't end well either dying of lung cancer. What a skillful silky player he was. I remember his goal in the fa cup replay at Maine Road against Newcastle in 1969. My first ever night game and there was 60,000 there, no fans eh?

Robert Hopkins, probably the most repulsive individual ever to play for us, an utter cnut of a human and quickly kicked out of the door.
Was there to watch him score the own goal past David Seaman, both playing for Birmingham City, when non league Altrincham knocked them out of the FA Cup at St Andrews.
