Players who just completely lost it

Was watching premiership years today and thought of David Bentley. Did well at Blackburn, scoring that Hat trick vs United, but has since fallen away.

To think, we were linked with him under Hughes.

David Mills, the first £500.000 player (Middlesbrough to WBA)

Mills scored on his first full appearance for West Brom, but despite the huge sum of money invested in him he was not given many opportunities to prove himself, with injuries, loss of form and a switch to midfield limiting his goals. After scoring only six goals in 59 appearances, he was loaned out to Newcastle United.

At the end of the loan, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday for just £30,000, but he only remained there for a short time, moving back to Newcastle on a permanent transfer.

Peter Marinello springs to mind
Classic case of moving to Larndan

Peter Barnes turned from Pure Gold to steamed shit!!!! Young Player of the year!!!

After his 1st few season's an England regular, he seemed to go to absolute crap after England lost
4-3 to Austria in about 79'. He rarely got a game for England again.

Atkinson bought him twice, once for West Brom and then took him to Man Utd. Where he was abysmal.

Still wonder what went wrong with him.

Stu Taylor.
Initially class and then turned to muck, and still to this day doesn't seem bothered.

Steve Redmond.looked outstanding at one point.

Superman.

Adebayor (every 2 seasons) ;-)

Francis Jeffers - especially when you consider the honours he could have had.

Big mention for Michael Ricketts and Malcolm Christie. I think Middlesbrough bought them at the same time in 2002-3(?) and they were both, at one time, decent strikers who could've flourished.

Harry Kewell never did anything after Leeds either. Turned to absolute crap.

I remember a player called Billy Kenny who came through at Everton, perhaps around the mid 90's. He looked like a bright prospect but then fucked it all up with a coke addiction. I remember an interview with him around 2001 and he was in a council flat in Oldham somewhere, reflecting on his career.
That, Jeffers and Cadamarteri are players I associate to what the OP is asking about. A few been put on here who have medals galore and were class players.
