Players who underperformed at City but were great elsewhere

His whole career was based on that game for Luton.

Tony Coton made him look what he was, an average No2
I believe by the time Coton arrived the backpass rule had changed and that destroyed him as a player. Although he was very much a step down from Coton I would agree(who, for what its worth was criminally underrated in my view, having seen almost all the City keepers since Corrigan I would probably rank second only to Ederson).

Ederson is one of my favorite players of today, but distribution apart, TC was head and shoulders above him as a keeper.

And personally think a lot better than Big Joe.

Criminal that he was not an England regular, but TC had a bad reputation, hence the England snub.

I see now how what I wrote reads... I was including Joe in that and all round he was a better keeper than Ederson, but the distribution that Ederson displays will change the way keepers are seen forever

He was snubbed by England because Swales used his FA position to veto his selection so he didn't pay anymore cash to Watford.

A name has been banded about by the older fans is Ian Bowyer

I was a kid and remember Bowyer bursting onto the scene with a fair few goals, there was even talk of him.being chosen for England. Sadly the goals dried up along with his confidence and he became a target of the boo boys, he did miss some absolute sitters to be fair. He went on to have a great career at Forest but in a different role.

In my intro I said some gave City decent service, I would certainly agree that Viera and Pearce both had reasonable seasons and were good to see but they were well below what they had been in their pomp.

May as well stick Messi on the list now then...

Tony Coton was the last City keeper I can remember who regularly pulled-off great saves, and 'saved us' in games we might have lost.
No offence to Ederson but he rarely saves a shot that any competent keeper wouldn't have?
