Gerry Taggart will always be remembered at City for a disastrous display at Ewood Park, when Machin threw him under the bus by playing the teenage left footed centre half at right back. Lost 4-0 iirc on the day of the Hillsborough disaster with future City academy coach Scott Sellars running wild against him.
Rebuilt his career at Barnsley and Bolton then had a brilliant and successful few years at Leicester, a bit of a cult hero at all three clubs. 51 caps for Northern Ireland, league cup winner etc
