Players you have met

I met the LEGEND that is the Goat in H&M.I was looking at some clothes and all of a sudden he was there beside me.I looked up and thought OMG its the GOAT!I`m not normally one to go upto people and just start talking to them but i turned and said 'i`m sorry i have to say you are an utter legend,i`m a City fan and we all think you are amazing'!!He just smiled his big smile and said thanks a lot.!!

I went to Christies hospital with work.We do a lot of charity work for them and we helped build the 'chill room' there where the kids go in and no adults are allowed.Anyway there are pics on the walls of all the City and U***ed players and we were talking to the nurse asking who had been in etc.Now i know Beckham gets a lot of shit on here but alot of it is just unwarrented. The Nures said that you get a lot of clubs coming arranging visits with the players but i have David Beckhams mobile number. We looked at her thinking my god Beckham will shag anything(she was a bit of a munter) but she said whenever he`s in the UK and in the area he rings her up and asks if he can come in(with his kids sometimes) and sit with the kids and stuff. No cameras,no papers she just said he likes to come up and hang out which i thought was great of him.Ive bumped into him a couple of times on M+S in handforth dean when he lived near there and he was a really great bloke.Unfortunately i cant say the same about his munter of a wife who never spoke and never looked from under her cap!She was full of spots to.Absolute trotter!

I once walked past Nicolas Anelka in the Trafford centre. Didn't speak to him but was surprised by how much bigger he seems in person than on TV. A very physically imposing bloke.

Was it deep throat?

I have met quite a few players, due to a previous job. I must say though, far and away the best was a certain eric cantona. In 1995 cantona, sharpe and the elephant man, visited christie hospital while my dad was an in-patient. There was a young lad about 19, who was in a side room, who was extremly ill, and a united fan, who couldn't stop talking about this visit for days, unfortunatley this lad was unconscious by the time they got to the ward. My dad was having a chat with cantona and explained the lads situation, the elephant man was blurting shite about it being a shame and that they had to return for training, as the gaffer was moaning about them being so long. Cantona said something in french, thanked my dad for the information and proceeded to sit in the lads room and wait to see if he woke up, he sat there for about 40 mins, and after pressure from the scum staff, he reluctantly left him a written letter and left. Just as cantona was leaving the front exit at oak rd, this lad opened his eyes (sods law) he was crying at the thought of missing his hero, while the nurses read him the letter over and over again. Cantona looked up, and another patient said to him out the window, that he'd regained consciousness, he turned around and came back up the stairs and spent an hour with the lad, untill he drifted off back to sleep. Sorry for the long post, but i know some people in football are the enemy, but i'd just like to make it known that although he is an arrogant prick, underneath he is not bad at all.
btw, the lad died 2 days later.

great story that mate thanks for sharing. tbh i've never had a downer on cantona like other rags, always thought he came across as a decent bloke and that story proves it.
it's the twats like the alex fergusons, gary nevilles, roy keanes of this world the real bile should be thrown towards.

I'm a mate of Andy May... for our older readers!

But I've had lengthy conversations with a number of City players due to work... Paul Lake, David White, Earl Barrett, Andy Hinchcliffe, Andy Morrison, Francis Lee... I'm sure there are others I can't think of at the moment.

I really liked Andy Hinchcliffe. Andy Morrison is scary just talking to him!

met kinky when i was a kid.

kevin keegan signed my dads wedding card for me.

met all the team at carrington including the goat and anelka.

my sister played football with shauny wright.

Ok here we go! Im a Fence erector and we were recently asked to work at MCFC carrington (Dream job for me) we installed Mike (the security guard) with a new electronic gate. I say it was Mike's gate because it is next to his new cabin and he controls it. He wasn't happy with it! Thought it was to slow (lol) Anyway what a great bloke he is and for me meeting him and listening to his stories was brilliant top top man. We worked there all in all for about 2 weeks. It was febuary i remember because we just signed AJ.We also erected a post and chain type fence around the press car park and we installed a footpath from the players car park to the media center. I remember thinking i better get this level otherwise someone might trip and break a leg then i will be in for a massive law suit. The first day i arrived there i did absolutly FA because i was just watchin player after player arrive for training and talking to mike. When we left at the end of the day my work mate (who is a massive rag) said to me you should take in a shirt for the players to sign I was apprehensive about this cause I wanted to get on with the job and at the same time didnt want to look like a crazy fan/worker anyway I took in a shirt an old retro one with number eight on the back and a marker pen. So here goes waiting for first player to arrive (by this time i pretty much knew who was in what car) lescott! i had my shirt and marker ready in a bag folded ready for him to sign in a nice space. So i waited for him to park and made my move (my mate is in my ear "its lescott its lescott go now go on") so i nervously ran over i even ducked LOL cause the press were trying to get pictures poking their huge camaras through the fence.I said to him in the most childish way "will you sign my shirt please joleon" and he agreed and put his monica on it really nice bloke he seemed and was quite chirpy. I did this all day with every player and by this time my rag mate was more excited than me (closet blue if you ask me).All the players (except petrov i didnt see him for whole time i was there) signed my shirt and i spoke to all of them some for longer than others and the best bloke was Bellamy and the worst was Shay Given/Kompany. I asked Bellers for his monica and he said (all tonge in cheek) " you havnt got time for that you should be working" my mate then said " ey we have been here since half seven m8 its brew time i wish we could turn up at ten for work" Bellers then said " yeah but the difference is that if we not doing are job then all you lot get on our backs" (i think he meant the fans in general) then i said nervous and stupid " but we not paid like you are are we?" he then said "no your right and im the worlds worst worker" but it was all in jest and he was like that all the time top man. Shay given/kompany on the other hand just seemed to be very dismissive and i honestly got the impression they were going to tell me to fook off. One thing i do remember was Steven Irland drove up to the security gate when he was leaving, i was talking to mike at his lodge steve stopped rolled down his window and asked Mike for a pen, Mike give him a pen and steve scribbled on some paper in his car and folded it and give it to Mike with the pen he then drove off Mike opened the paper with a smile on his face and I asked what it was. It was a check to Mike for £1000! A FOOKIN TIP! couldnt belive it. Anyway all in all I really enjoyed working there. We got the job done I got to see Carrington in a whole new light and most of the players were really good with us. Thats my first what i would call proper post sorry for spelling, grammer etc.
