Admittedly I'd been moved from SS lower for the extra away fans, but L2 East Stand block 204 is like a church. There was one ripple of 'stand up if you love city' after the second goal, but most of this lot didn't join in and were mumbling about their view being obstructed. Bloke near me was told off for swearing because "ladies were present and if he wanted to use that kind of language he should leave." The person behind me kept bleating on about the goals being Panty's fault and Hart would have saved them.
As a general point, even though I was in the other half of the ground, heard plenty from the united fans until our second went in.
None of this surprised me, but don't go saying our support is great when it so clearly isn't. I would, however, like to nod to those either side of the away end who at least gave it a go, made out "we're having a party..." at one point, just wasn't able to join in for fear of offending the padded seat brigade.
It doesn't help if you don't turn the volume up on your remote. Are you for real?
TBH I'm sick to death of all the criticism our home support has been getting on BM this season. Some of you need to take a reality check. Like many others I've been home and away this season and can assure you our home support is much better and louder than most other clubs home support.
One more thing. There hasn't been a set of away fans who have out sung us at home this season, regardless of the results. And today was a prime example, where '6000' United fans, with their team 3-0 up, were out sung for the vast majority of the game.
Enough said.
I'm sorry jrb but that is a load of bollocks. You don't happen to sit in the south stand or singing section do you? Anyone in there thinks the atmosphere is top notch yet sit anywhere else and all you hear is away fans and have done all season and for the last few seasons in fact since we moved to Eastlands, except for today of course.
WNRH.
WNRH.
I do stand in 111, so yes my views on this subject could be distorted. But I still can't accept the amount of criticism our home support has been getting on BM this season.
Let's put it this way. From an away fans point of view COMS must be a pretty daunting place. With two singing sections eitherside of them, the Poznan(RIP), and the stadium full and loomng above them, there can't be many away fans who have gone away from COMS and can't have been impressed with our (vocal) support and what they've experienced. Liverpool and United fans can now be added to that list. Admitedly, if there is one valid criticism it's that the whole stadium doesn't get behind the team like it did today.
As I've stated. Regardless of the lack of constant stadium noise, there isn't a set of home fans in the PL that take the p*** out of away fans on a constant basisi like City fans do. (Some people may not be impressed by that. Fair enough.)
That was evident today as well. Every time United fans came out with a chant there was an instant reply from City fans. When the table was turned United fans just stood there looking bemused and had no comeback at all. Just like numerous other away fans that have come to COMS this season.
Yes there is room for improvement, but I honestly don't think our support is as bad as some people make out.(on BM) But that's just my opinion.
Regarding United's support. They had 6000 fans. I wasn't impressed. We had half that at OT and made much more noise. The second half belonged to us on the terraces, when in reality United had every incentive to get behind their team even more and drowned our support out. They didn't.
