Please help save Hyde United - collection at West Ham game

Even though a couple of my mates once had to scale the foodlight pylons at a Cheshire Senior Cup at Ewen Fields tie to escape aggro when supporting Alty-most likely instigated by them-Alty once one of my great loves-I will gladly stuff a few quid in a box supporting Hyde. Disgraceful what is threatened to them after what so many more have escaped with over the years. Unless there is a healthy grassroots game the culture of football suffers-never thought I'd say it but-CAN YOU HEAR THE TIGERS ROAR?-come on Blues get yer quids out.
 
Reading comments on this thread is absolutely fantastic and shows people do care about non league football.
A crowd in excess of 40,000 is expected tonight and if everyone can donate at least 50p this really will make a massive step to save Hyde United Football Club.

So please please please fill our buckets tonight at the match.
 
Can't be there tonight as I'm working and live too far away to get there after but have lent my season card to a friend and he's going to put our contribution in the buckets.

Money really does need to filter down to all levels of football from the top because this sort of thing should not be happening in our beautiful game!

Played there a few times, always been a decent club. If a bucket comes within view tonight I will be donating, still think its a joke that the rags do not help as they used your ground for years but then again thats the rags for you.

Here Here, I never used to like Manchester City at all (Tottenahm Hotspur being my preferred "Top Club") but after this response and generosity they have found a place in my heart and will ever be "a local team" I look out for in future.

I will be putting a fiver of my hard earned in tonight, it's a shame the hyde are facing such turmoil with the millions that are floating about these days. I think it would be a nice touch if the club put in too given the links with us(our reserves used to play there I think), let's dig deep to save this great little club.
 
Hyde have supporters far and wide, in face as far down as here in Sydney — of the City crew down here is a Tigers boy from way back.

It's shit to see any team fold, so please put a couple of quid in for those Hyde boys.
 
May I just reiterate how sincerely thankful we are to you at City for giving us the opportunity to collect at your ground tonight. I hope it is a success for us off the pitch as it is for you on it.
I beleive that the collectors will be inside the turnstiles so if you can spare any money please give generously.
I will keep you informed on how this all pans out.

As I've mentioned before - I'm a fan of football above any club. City are my team and have been for 24 years - nothing will change that.

However when I moved back to East Manchester (Gorton actually - walking distance to CoMS) I lived just off Hyde Road. What was this Hyde place? What was there? All I knew was that my mate Spider used to write the fanzine "Preston Were Lucky", one of the best fanzines to come from any club if you speak to anyone! One fateful Saturday morning I was looking at the fixture list and saw that Hyde United (aka "The Tigers") had a game against Lancaster City. United Vs City, eh? Tempting.

Me and my mate Kev jumped on a bus, and never looked back.

What we found at the ground (when we found it) was a world of football I didn't know still existed. Real pies, cheap beer in a social club that made Phoenix Nights look classy, crazy characters, real tea, a nicely kept little ground with atmosphere, a fantastic pitch (better than almost any league pitch), and supporters whose passion and sense of humour were just so refreshing to see.

You could stand up, you could sing (and boy, did we sing!), and within a few weeks I had made some great friends and found myself running the (now semi-defunct) <a class="postlink" href="http://www.eyeonthetigers.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.eyeonthetigers.co.uk</a> fan site.

If you've not been to a non-league football game, I can't recommend it enough, through a few years following Hyde home and away (when City weren't at home) it revitalised me and reminded me of the love for the game. We shared so many laughs, on the pitch, in the car, and in the bar with the players and managers Some fierce local rivalries and some amazing derby matches with Stalybridge Celtic - the highlight being a (admittedly) hungover Gareth Seddon scoring 5 goals in a New Years' Day 7-3 drubbing away at Bower Fold.

So why do I mention this now? Well, Hyde have been issued with a winding up order. They have this week to raise £35000, and are well on their way - tonight at the West Ham game, fans and indeed players will be out shaking buckets and looking for whatever you can help with. Manchester City have given their blessing, and indeed are already Hyde's kit sponsors for the season with a significant contribution. If each City fan gave 50p (or one of our players gave 20% of their weekly wage!) then football will go on in Hyde. If not, then their last game will have been played.

This situation has arisen because some wealthy 'backers' pulled out, leaving lots of liabilities in the form of player contracts, and a tax bill. The current chairman took the honourable option of not going into administration, and so leaving creditors out of pocket, but this has cost us in the long term. The club want to, and are nearly in a position to save themselves, and are cashflow positive with the frugal contracts.

I implore anyone that can, to dig deep tonight, and if you can't help Hyde, to at least consider going to support your local non-league team from time to time, you won't get Robinho, but you will get a real taste of football at a club where your £8 on the door will make a real difference to them.

Just to reiterate what the other Hyde fans have already said.

But a massive thanks to the fans for tonight, and also a massive thanks to Bernard Halford and Garry Cook who have been great supporters of our little club, (your our main shirt sponsor, CITC) in the past and hopefully again in the future.

Will be giving a couple of quid to the guys tonight. Great local club to me and played on there a few times when I was a kid for cup finals. And I used to go on the old soccer summer schools they did when it used to be the old astro pitch. Great times.

We'd tag along to watch the game, have a Bovril and a Roy of the Rovers bar and give the away fans a load of grief. Hyde mad was his old man, absolutely loved them. He died tragically a few years ago and it'd break his heart to see the club in this state.

Any way to donate from up here in Geordieland?
