No I'd live in Cheshire, where most of them do

Same shit though, better house in a suburb of an average city,no thanks.

Manchester is not an average city, it has literally changed the world with the birth of the industrial revolution. whether you think that was good or bad, doesnt matter, this city changed the way the world worked.....lickle old Manchester.

it should be a world heritage site for that alone![/quote]

Good shout sir! Unfortunately some people don't see it that way. The city paved the way for nearly everything we take for granted today.

Detroit's full of gangsta rappers, Chicago is full of mobsters, Ny is full of pimps, ho's and serial killers AND and the deep south is full of gun toting sodomisers or inbred mutants that will torture you before making a nice burger out of you whilst wearing your skin as an housecoat. Though ive never experienced the States myself ive seen enough movies to know this is FACT

Don't forget Philadelphia = Hickville.

This pretty much sums it up. Born near there so I love it, but I can understand how some wouldnt take to it.

EDIT- It isnt really about the place though is it? I could live anywhere and be relatively happy as long as I have my family and friends around me.

Listen, you could be stood looking out at the wonderful expanse of the grand canyon whislt simultaneously thinking to yourself, "wish I was in the Bahamas right now!"

Some people will never be happy. People from warm climates, where the culture is street parties and barbeques on the beach, may not enjoy living in England, unless they move to Cornwall. Although, in essence we are not talking about a plethora of foriegn footballers complaining about our city, we are talking about Carlos Tevez. A man who earn 200k per week and lives in a Cheshire mansion big enough the accomodate an Argentinian village. He has grounds so vast that there is a full-time group of gardeners tending to it. In the basement there is a swimming pool and roman bath with saunas and a gym. The only thing that's missing is people, and the absence of people is not the fault of the city of Manchester, it's the fault of the man himself.

So my point is, people make places. In the south of England, people have less time to talk and are less friendly than up in the North. People who have re-located here love it, because you can be in the midst of a vibrant city, and 10 mins later in the countryside. We get the best of both worlds here, just don't tell anyone!!

ah c`mon.... take that back you clown! the industrial revolution happened across most nordic states aswell as england/britain and france. to say it started in manchester is ridiculous..... you have sheffield, bolton, coventry, birmingham and every other london suberb could claim this.... when england was run from winchester.
