Plusnet

You are at the mercy of BT, Plusnet are owned and use BT's infrastructure.
BT are trying to catch up to Virgin speed and reliability wise so i doubt they are going to give Plusnet priority transit on their lines.

I laughed far more than i should have and i think some of it is due to your obvious distress xD
For this i am sorry and i aim to be a better man in future but for now (nelson voice) HaHa!

I think that is the issue though yeah, over sold the lines and the subsidiaries are suffering for it, maybe even BT customers also but probably a much lesser extent.
As my father would say "They can send man to the moon but i can't watch the footy, shite". The same applies here for broadband i think.

It is a bad deal this though because they can blag it away pretty well and most people can't be arsed with the hassle of changing providers so they rely on that a bit to i think.

TCIB.....which ISP would you recommend? I was considering PlusNet and Zen but both seem to have off putting reviews recently.....(no Virgin Media in my location).

If you don't mind saying roughly where you are i can research it for you as better deals can be found with small independent firms, some of which are very very good indeed.

Chuckle away guilt free pal, safe in the knowledge...i would be doing it if the tables were reversed. ;)

i really, honestly have never had cause to believe BT's own customers get priority traffic, If i could gripe i would trust me. Having spoken to the tech guys i know where my speed cap is set and only local factors take me significantly below that

Never had much, if any trouble with them. Though tried Directsave.... Much cheaper for standard BB connection, which is all I need.

If they really carrier neutral in such respects it must be the line overselling.
I have not read ispreview recently so not sure the status of investment from xyz company is in xyz area.

I think they might be over subscribed, you couldnt turn on the radio or tv with seeing/hearing the fat yorkshire man telling you how good and cheap they are. No the **** is nowhere to be seen.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm hoping someone can answer what is probably a dumb question about virgin as I plan to transfer my broadband to them. They offer to have you up and running in four days and to send all the equipment for you to set it up yourself. Does tis assume that they already have a connection to your house? I thought that they used cables other than the ones going in to the phone line.

We had virgin at our house when we moved here over 7 years ago but switched to sky and I'm pretty sure that their old box on the wall and cables are not really now around.
