Think this was my 1st ever away derby, and remember the away end went ape-shit when Curley-Wurley scored!
Used to love Keith Curle...I always thought he was cool as fuck and rated him as a centre back (mind you I was only a kid so maybe I was way off the mark??)..

Ps don't think Keith Curle got sent off on his England debut...but he had an absolute stinker (bit like White if my memory serves me correct?)

He was a quality defender and fast as fuck, forwards rarely got past him, he'd often take the ball off them and then turn and race forwards rather than pass back to the keeper, one of the best centre halves we've had in my time.. imo.

For England he got booked in the first half and nearly sent off for a later tackle, I remember Pearce running over having a rant at the player for diving and diverting attention from Curle.. I think he was subbed then. He had a poor game due to the fact he was played out of position at right back.

Wasn't he a victim of Ball 'clearing the drains' of high earners..? the high earners that happenened to be our best players... daft twat..

Does anyone remember before the old Rumbelows cup final they had a 100m sprint for all the fastest footballers (might have been on saint and Greavsie) I think Curle won it.

Wright had gone in over the ball on a couple of occasions on Big Eric so Eric got his own back, was funny mind you ;-)

Definetley Mark Bright - Eric punched him!! Quality - although think we lost because of it?!

Yeah we deffo got beat, maybe 1-3? i waited outside after the game just to sort of say 'neh mind Eric', he came out later on and there was me and about 2 other(local) kids,they started askin' where i was from and thought they were gonna start on me, my mates fukd off back to St.Helens and as i'd waited behind i only got back at about half 9(usualy back for half 6), was only about 12/13 haha mad times. Oh i, Eric had a black eye.
