Tell you what, I was so happy for Schezy with the pen save. Never a pen in the first place since the header was well off target, so the action was over and the keep didn't target the player!

If the ref is sent to the screen he’ll always give it. Absolute joke. The whole charade is just a waste of time. Just have the VAR people give the penalty straight away and have done with.

Annoyingly one of the first games involved a referee going to the monitor and overruling VAR’s suggestion. Was hoping it would be a sign of things to come but seemingly not.

There actually was one situation earlier in the world cup. Never seen it before or since

I missed that one. It must be in the refs mind that if several people in the VAR room are asking you to look at something, then it must be in your head you have missed something obvious and you’ll go with what the majority say

It’s not doing a good job in this game!

Some would argue that the semi automated offside system should be the only thing.

It’ll just mean we go back to the age of many things missed and a lot more controversy. It makes the game exciting for the neural (in club football) and players can celebrate like normal.

As long as human being officiate, there will always be errors as well as subjective interpretation of certain actions like the penalty call…
