Political relations between UK-EU

Looks like the Westminster Government are about to breach the agreement (invoking article 16) with the EU by suspending the border between Great Britain and Northern Ireland citing the current restrictions as unworkable.

Once again Johnson will renege on a signed agreement. No morals at all, can't be trusted
It's not technically a breach because it's in the protocol. Whether Johnson sticks to the due process is another matter.

If you think of A16 as the dispute mechanism that both sides agreed to then it may be relevant.

But the issue here is that BJ has signed up to a shit deal and he wont want to enforce it - as per what he agreed to do. So its not really a dispute with the EU. Its a failure of living up to his own commitment. So maybe its more accurate to describe it as breaking the treaty (he may of course try to use A16 a kick up a fuss and blame the EU). But the fundamental here is that BJ never really solved the NI border issue - he just picked one of the unacceptable options and sold it as 'oven ready' - 'lets get brexit done'. And here we are.

It doesn't solve the problems though. It would just be a temporary alleviation while the problems are addressed. If the problem is unsolvable within the agreed framework then we're back to square one. What would probably happen would be it gets invoked then we would need to renegotiate the provisions which will require another climb down on our part. Either that or we just break the law.

Loving all this faux angst about fishing

Setting aside that the issues could largely have been identified and mitigations/actions determined to address them if only a Remainer led government had not prevented the required planning being undertaken...........

It only seems a few months ago that the same posters that are now outraged about current issues were outraged at the prominence fishing was being given in the negotiations due to the insignificance of the industry

#permanentlyandconvenientlyoutraged
How do you think those whose livelihoods are directly affected are feeling? Faux outrage? Faux anxiety? Faux unemployment? Etc

You miss the point as usual when you trivialise posters raising the issue and seek to deflect with irrelevancies about what could have, should have happened. Do you think there is a constructive way your Brexit achieving government might alleviate the current concerns?

He does not seem to give a shit about people losing their jobs and futures as evidenced by every reply he makes when somebody posts an example.
