Political relations between UK-EU

:)

Whatever was a place like Vauxhall doing electing a bigot like her. I'm sure most people will be unanimous in voting to build a continuous wall around her house.

the best quote I have seen about this is "woman furious when lion bites her face off after voting for Lions Bite Your Face Off Party"

Those of us old enough will recall BLMC, BL, ARG, MG Rover - govts pumped money in, restructured them they kept changing their i,d, but they were producing a product they couldn't sell....what happened to them?

“The triumph 2000 saloon production ground to a halt as three different unions argued among themselves over who should tighten the dashboard screws”

Unions and management was mostly to blame. Occasionally they produced some decent cars even if a bit unreliable.

Where is the quote from or is it apocryphal ?

nah mate - people would have you believe that for their own political ends but they were trying to sell stuff that was outclassed. Their market went away

The managed decline of industries following underinvestment and neglect. It's no coincidence that countries that focused on innovation and respected technical education fared better than us. Just another example why it's better to have an organised strategy to economic planning like the Japanese and Germans rather than a fully liberal market one.

1969 - you could buy the new FIAT 128 - the daddy of modern cars - fwd - electric cooling fan - ohc run by a rubber belt or a Morris 1000 which had been in production since 1948

Couple of years later VW dropped the Beetle and made the Golf - BLMC used the Minor platform to make the Marina which was old before its birth

60's designs Triumph 2000/2500 and Rover P6's were sent into battle with the new BMW 1602 and Audi 80........but unions yeah right.........

Even just on aesthetics the approach was naff. The mini was the basically the same shell until 2000.This is an Innocenti Mini from 1982.
