Political relations between UK-EU

nah mate - people would have you believe that for their own political ends but they were trying to sell stuff that was outclassed. Their market went away

I know what you mean mate but me dad had a princess and it was ok. The Jag XJ6 and Rover SD1 mind were special. Me dads mate had an SD1 (company car worked for Woollies) I remember as a kid thinking I was in a spaceship. The XJ6 is still a beautiful car today.

The biggest problem was you couldn’t order one as they were always on strike. I think it was 500 odd strikes in a couple of years. Crazy but the management was no better.

the Princess was fine if you got a good one. One of the few modern designs but as ever it was left to wither on the vine without real improvements ....... that and the crossmember at the front liked to rot catastrophically
SD1 have outdated suspension and again was left wo wither with insufficient improvement so they ceded ground bit by bit to the German exec marques. Before too long UK management would rather have a Granada than an SD1 - more reliable and the Sweeny and Professionals kudos too

That’s pretty damming. Perhaps I just remember cars from childhood with rose tinted glasses ;)

Most cars of that era were rot boxes but yes the BL and Ford’s were already rotting before they left the factory. I had a montego in the 90s (J reg I think) that was a decent enough car, I think it had a Perkins diesel engine and was not a spot of bother, but you had to clean the drain holes regularly to prevent rust haha

Diesel Montego's and Maestro's were decent cars on the time ( not a patch on diesel Pugs and Citroens of the time though for refinement ) - as for a Granada............"you're nicked you slaaaaaaagggggg!" lol

My mate had an Austin maxi, when he came round to pick us up to go to rugby we'd all preplanned to come out with paper bags on our heads to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in it.

very often cars with a bad rep have a loyal following. There is a lot of shit waxed lyrically about some right dogs - Fords " parts are cheap" - they had to be you needed lots of them. Italian cars rot - do you remember Escorts, Mk1 and 2 Fiesta's? I had an 87 Orion Ghia injection bought @ 6 months old - lovely car for the time - aged 5 you got central locking roulette - one door would never lock and sometimes it played the boot as its joker. Aged 6 it had two odd doors from a scrapper due to rust aged 8 I got sick of the welding and scrapped it. It had less than 70k on the clock.

I had a 2.0s cortina and within 3 years it was a total rust bucket. Had several Ford transits for work 8 or so and they have all been dogs. Last 3 cars have been VW and have a Mercedes van

I suppose you mean your favourite 'Non Tariff Barriers.'
This is just one of many, why I'm putting it up I don't know, but anyway.

Correct, and I’ll tell you why, because the non tariff barriers create tariffs.

The Chemical industry has written an open letter to the Govt over this insane idea of having our own chemical registry and regulator, it’s duplication of red tape and will cost the industry a cool £1 billion, for zero benefit.

This FT report includes the following comment from Aston Chemicals on no longer exporting to Europe ‘Because of the risk of tariffs due to Rules of Origin‘ amongst the factors.

The headline on the deal is ‘tariff free’, and then you read the small print.

EU have responded to Gove on the NI Protocol. From RTE.

European Commission Maros Sefcovic has told Gove that sweeping changes to the Protocol will not be possible, and that any flexibilities require the UK for its part to implement the terms of last December's NI Protocol.

In a letter responding to last week's letter from Gove EU sets out a list of areas where he says the UK is not in compliance with the NI Protocols. Border Control Posts at NI Ports are "not yet fully operational", official controls at the Posts are "not performed in compliance with the Withdrawal Agreement" and that there are "very few identity checks"‘

In short, it’s a very long list of shortcomings (is this phrase a contradiction?).

TL;DR. The answer to the UK Govt is ‘no’.
