It would appear that you seem to be unaware that for most of the last 500 years before the EU/EEC we were at the centre of the world's largest political alliance known as the British Empire, albeit calling it an alliance is probably the wrong word. We did quite well out of that due to having overseas markets and suppliers under the same jurisdiction as ourselves.
