Brexit hasn't affected me or anyone I know, but of course there's been something else to occupy our minds recently. I know most of the posters left on here will immediately respond to that comment by thinking something along the lines of this being a selfish view, (won't somebody think of the children/young people/fishermen etc) but unfortunately this is how societies exist. Only until policy visibly affects one's community does it become a key issue, and in my view it will take a few years before we can see the bigger picture. Even then, when it is almost certainly going to show a negative impact, unless it translates to very noticeable deprivation in communities/industries, there will still be a good proportion with the view that it was worth doing. It will be a minority of course but that was because it was such a close result and is more likely to reduce in support than gain.Where have all brexiteers gone of this thread?
Serious question - do they know its shit now or are they still in denial?
It must be remembered that we were never fully committed to the EU project and that has always been reflected in our nation. Brits have always generally viewed our membership as "what is in it for us?" rather than "what can the project do for Europe?", but I don't think we're alone in that, it's just that Europeans have a different mindset due to historical alliances and location and it makes more sense to be a member. In fact, most of the posts we see on here now reflect "what is in it for us?" - or more accurately "what have we lost?".
I started out in all this as pro-EU, but personally don't mind whatever happens going forward, a trade deal is a trade deal, I'll leave it up to the government to sort that out and if they are doing a bad job vote for someone else (not excluding possibly re-joining). It's just way too early (partly due to the pandemic) to assess it for me.
As for why the brexiteers have disappeared off here? If you can't see it, you can't see it, I guess, but you all look a bit obsessed with it to me.
