Political relations between UK-EU

Apparently so

“Tours in the EU have long been subject to cabotage - the rules just weren't often enforced”

Benefits of club membership. Adopting the French rule of ignoring regulations. No sense in rocking the boat over an issue no one cared about. For non-members though, these little benefits no longer apply.

You do realise this was published after we left?

It wasn’t applicable until 1st Jan.

This new deal just keeps the cabotage in play.

Unless I’m reading it wrong apparently it was though, just not enforced? Which does seem a little silly that it even existed given all the FOM rules.

Anyway there is a workaround by using EU hauliers (if you can find one with any capacity of course!!). Losers here are UK specialist hauliers who will just have to transport into first country and/or limit themselves to max 3 further stops - and I presume increased costs for the artists themselves? At least it’s some good news that the musicians themselves can now tour in majority of EU member states.

If Visa have decided to take the piss for no other reason than they can then good on Amazon I say.

They can and do. Like roaming charges or a thousand other things we will get shafted on.

From the BBC.

Specifically, fivefold rise in credit card interchange fees arises out of having left EU and then having also chosen to leave the single market/ European Economic Area - it is a classic example of an increase in Non-Tariff Barriers to trade with Europe, as a result of the deal.’

It could be down to how they charge transaction fees in comparison to Mastercard and the others. If these companies have just increased their fees then that would be simply passed on to customers and we'd be none the wiser, but a quick google of the two companies and I discovered Mastercard have a negotiable rate (suggesting Visa don't). Probably Amazon just flexing their muscles, but my bank has switched away from Visa cards too after 20 years so there may be a bigger battle going on in the background.

They still won’t because of the prohibitive cost. (or will do so on a vastly diminished scale)

Except it's another little inconvenience for the average person, to add to the pile of other inconviniences some small some not so small. All unneccesary even with Brexit. This would be fine if somebody could say yes but lets balnce out those negatives with this list of positives all these things that are now better. Nobody ever can , that's the problem

Well hopefully Visa will feel the consequences in their bottom line.

Mobile phones is a real problem I do concur, hard to switch providers if they all doing same. We need the regulators to step in and ask them to justify the charges
