I love this shit. Hull Port Authority also sounding the alarm bells, saying the Govt has underestimated the work involved and they need more resources, staff, vets. The amount of additional admin and red tape we are creating for ourselves is a wonder to behold.

Yes but it's our British admin and red tape, not some European admin and red tape. And cos it's British it has to be appreciated even though a lot wouldn't even apply if we'd remained.

If this were a Remainer government, the headlines would be "Stubborn Remainers out to prove Brexit was a mistake".

It just seems bizarre that the inertia of Liar Johnson is going to end with "Crisis, what crisis?" headlines - rubbish in the street when the bin and street cleaning drivers all go off driving HGVs, farm animals culled in a way not seen since Foot and Mouth...

Just arrived in Christchurch/Bournemouth for a break @ 6.30pm. Nearby Tesco Express has zero fuel - hasn't had any for 3 days no idea when they were getting some - managed to get half doz eggs - one small loaf - some bananas and some milk - for the most part shelves looked pretty desolate. ( I had the forethought to bring tea/coffee and the like with us ) - went further along Barrack Road to the Esso station - closed - no fuel. Gave up will look further afield in the morning ( bought a superb take away from the Top Wok ).
Before the smart arses pile and say oh but it was airshow weekend of course they ran out of fuel. What you have to ask yourself is why is this the first year it happened? What has changed?

Sainsburys literally willing to die on the altar of Brexit - won't be missed by me

Have you considered an Electric Vehicle?

:)

Probably a while before we have Brexit induced powercuts.

As a poster who came to the conclusion that leaving the EU was the correct thing to do, I still think it was the correct thing to do.

What posters are doing though is blaming Brexit, rather than blaming the idiots in charge of negotiating Brexit. If Labour had backed Brexit we would have a Labour government instead of this bunch of lying halfwits in charge,

Its not Brexit's fault there are problems, its the Tories fault, they never had a plan, they still don't have a plan and they make it up as they going along. What they did was what Tories do, they bought into a populist movement and let the headbangers on the far right of the Tory party dominate, the far right of the Tory party is dangerous, its not the party it used to be, it is now reactionary rather than cautious.

They got us the worst PM in our history in charge, a fool so out of his depth I would not put him charge of organising a chimps tea party. He is still lying every day, because it is all about him, Brexit was a means for him to get his name on the Eton's honour board as an alumni PM, which is all that mattered to him, the egotistical ****.

So you can keep blaming Brexit for our problems if you want, but for fucks sake have a look at why there are problems. Its not Brexit, it is the useless fucking Government we have in charge.

It’s both.

Brexit is a really bad idea that with careful implementation would have been barely noticeable albeit pointless, with a long term negative impact that would be difficult to prove.

As it was it was implemented in such a way to completely fuck over the country for the benefit of a very small minority.

How could you not have a Tory Brexit when the referendum was conducted by a Tory government and Vote Leave was overwhelming made up of Tories?

There was no alternative model for outside the EU following that awful referendum full of lies, racist propaganda and the status quo backed by the two evil shits at number 10 and 11 who had done plenty to undermine the EU already.

Cameron's staged act of renegotiating with the EU before holding the referendum was also daft.

What was the alternative model of Brexit?

There was no coherent plan for "lexit", it was just fantasy, faith based politics by trade union focused fringe parties and left-wing racism.

What was the alternative model of the economy?

Increased public ownership that is blocked by state ownership rules?

Despite the fact that this isn't true, German central and state governments have major or controlling shareholdings in numerous companies.

The barriers were always ideological. Governments didn't intervene in industry because they didn't believe in it.

Everyone against Brexit knew full well it would be crap with or without the Tories, no chance it would be any better under Labour.
Leaving our biggest trade partners was always a bad idea whatever political side you are on.

Definite rumblings in the Tory press of a ‘closer relationship with Europe’ - maybe code for ‘shit it’s not working we need to rejoin the customs union and the single market’ - I’m sure it’ll get spun differently but that’s the inevitable outcome to this mess.

Frosty the Showman sabre rattling again - it covers the fact that the "done" Brexit still isn't being done but rather delayed - and threatening the Article 16 empty threat which he knows he can't go through with without there being dreadful repercussions for the UK. In the end the EU are going to tell us to stick our delays either shit or get off the pot and start giving interviews damning the UK Govt for putting off their OWN Brexit plans.

Brexit was always going to be a shitshow irrespective of party unless it was the lightest touch Brexit with us remaining in the single market. This is the Brexit that England wanted and voted for. I do agree with you about Johnson and the tories though. Utterly corrupt, incompetent and dishonest.

Let’s hope so.

Interesting that the Express refers to Frost’s Brexit trade agreement as the “hated deal” without a hint of irony.

It's hard to see the tories going into the next election with things as they are - and things are about to get worse.

But the problem for Tories is that they have committed to a very harsh brexit and with brexit there is very little middle ground available. You are either in the SM/CU or not. Tories know that to re-open the talks in any meaningfull way will just get them back to that binary choice. So they cant do anything signficant without rowing back the whole 5 years of brexit shit we have had already. I dont see them as willing to go back to the drawing board and the mess will still be evident at the next election and they will just have to defend it. I see no other choice for them - they committed to this shit outcome and they have to brass it out.

The labour strategy seems to be to sit back and let them own it. For an ardent remainer (rejoiner) its very frustrating but you do have to wonder if the kind of headlines as above would be coming out if Starmer was bashing BJ with brexit related issues at every opportunity. Starmer has removed the politically polarised arguments and is just letting the reality speak for itself. BJ would love to blame Labour for getting in the way or siding with the EU - that argument has been neutralised. It will no doubt come back at the next GE but by then you would hope that peoples views on the merits of brexit will be very much different.
