500,000 people will have been vaccinated against Covid by end of today in the UK.
A member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices which advises the CDC in the USA, suggests so far the vaccines appear to still work against the new mutant strain.
The Oxford vaccine is due to be approved within the week which will ramp up vaccinations greatly.
Novavax, which looks like it has the potentially best Covid vaccine candidate so far, has finished enrolment of its phase 3 trials in the UK (15,000 people).
Early efficacy data is expected at the start of January. The UK has ordered 60 million doses.
Peoples mental health will be fragile at best atm, but the light is at the end of the tunnel and I think it’s extra important to think positively.
I used to work as a journalist and know all too well that clicks matter most, so articles in papers are exceptionally dramatic to garner attention. But the truth is things will be back to normal soon enough!
