Covid-19: Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine judged safe for use in UK
The UK is the first country to approve the Pfizer vaccine - with 800,000 doses due to arrive soon.www.bbc.co.uk
Does flu vaccine have to be kept in a -80 degree environment? We do about 25 million flu in about 2 months, so however many covid needed maybe 35 mill in 4 months, yes why not. That’s the plan anyway. Might slip a few weeks so what.
Our initial order, for 2020 delivery, is 2.5 million doses.Much more than a sliver. The UK will have enough doses to vaccinate all care home residents and staff, all NHS staff, all at risk groups and even start down the age bands. I expect the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine to be approved very shortly too so everyone eligible will be done.
Edit: the difficulty of rolling out the Pfizer vaccine has been overstated too. Although it needs to be stored at around minus 78c it can last up to five days at fridge temperature.
No, this will be done like it or don't. You've been wrong all along on vaccine development started saying one wouldn't even been developed, then not for years from what I remember.Does flu vaccine have to be kept in a -80 degree environment?
