Post counts

So how come you two are here so vehemently defending the decision when neither of you post with any regularity at all?

Personally I couldn't give a fuck about my own post count and I dare say that most of the others who have a problem with them being removed do so not because they are arsed about their own post counts.

Also out of interest what purpose does Rascal pointless dig at posters who he has a problem with and your agreeing with him actually serve in the discussion.

The lack of question mark implies a rhetorical question btw as I don't really care that much.

I post here nearly everyday, just rarely post in the main forum, so dont get your point there.

What posters do i have a problem with? I pulled up Blueinsa because he bangs on about stuff i think should be left to the more than capable moderating team.

Me and Cheesy have both been Mods and seen stuff from the other side of the fence. Once you have done that how you look at things changes a little. I advocated post counts being disabled back in 2006 because of the reasons it has finally been done. A posters opinion should be valued whether they have one post or one trillion and if it ends the tedious pastime of calling people rags then this place will be all the better for it.

But as you dont care so much, support the actions as in my humble opinion they are the right thing to do.

I haven't read the previous 20 odd pages but to me its a bit like a birthday when you hit a certain figure. Its a community I like to belong to but I enjoy drivel after a few down the pub on 'off topic' subjects just like, I'm sure, we all do (I hope). Its not about a badge of honour that I have '000 odd posts but its a personal recognition that I've belonged to a sharing site that when I started supporting City didn't exist.

I'm not arguing one way or the other just like my post count doesn't matter to anyone else. Should it matter when I respond to someone that has less '000 posts than I? I don't think it does. Does it matter when a new poster says something that perhaps the other all faithful have thrashed out a 1,000 times previously does have some kind of validity.

One think is for sure, I will have to trust people on here that I know and have conversed with more frequently.

I'd like to bring it back. I don't think there's anything wrong with new posters having a bit of an initiation and being open to a bit of scrutiny at first.

It's nice to see how many posts you've made. Bring it back.

Are the ones with high post counts moaning because they are worried they might be seen as nomarks.

on an internet forum

I suspect you're right Rasc. Probably check the member list several times a day too and sort it into order by number of posts so that they can see how far up the list they are. Must give them a warm fuzzy feeling for some reason.

Interesting that most of the members who want the post count back are those that berate and accuse other members of being WUMS, Flappers, KFA, and their fav one RAGS; based, in the most part, on a users post count. We could all call other members Rags a 1000 times to up our post count doesnt mean there is any substance to what we have to say, conversley just because someone has a low post count it doesnt mean that they dont have anything relevant to add or their opinion is any less valid than those with 1000s of posts. Sadly it seems that there is an elitist group of users on here that think a high post count makes them some sort of demi god, It doesnt. The easiest way to solve that problem is to have no post count displayed!
You see when you have a low post count as you have and come out with crap like that you are asking to get jumped on,i don't do that so don't lump us all in that boat, thanks

you missed my point. I don't think the people who would like post counts visible are saying so because of their own post counts but rather those of the people they are interacting with.

But obviously Ric would rather everyone approach every poster in an equitable fashion. Personally I think that too idealistic but I do understand why he's done it even if I don't agree.

But isnt that my point, why should I or anyone else be "jumped on" because the post count is low, and why should what we have to say be "crap" because the post count is low? What i said wasnt, as you put it, crap, it is a valid point. Despite your assertion that you "dont do that" you have decided that my post was crap because I have a low post count, validating my point further.

You still can so that wasn't your best post out of the 4083 you've made :-)
