Post Match Thread: City vs Everton

The one player I thought was weak last night. Looks as if he's finding it hard work a the moment but hopefully he'll shake off his rustiness soon.
This^ his best game since he's come back but still rusty. Promising signs of a full return imminent

First half he was pretty poor, and granted he was guilty for the Deulofeu chance, after that though, he was very good in the second half. He needs the wide players to create space for him.

It's three games now where he's been dropped deeper to a midfield 2 and looked much better. The key is getting both him and De Bruyne central.
That is not easy. Especially with Aguero too.
Perhaps we could play 43111.

He has done ok when dropped deeper & even gets in a few decent interceptions. I'm wondering if that is a hint as to what is coming next season.

I thought he played in a midfield three first half at Leicester. It was reported anywhere but it looked to me like he was playing left side of a three. I was behind the goal so not sure my view was perfect. But he seemed deeper than normal there.

I don't know if I also speak for StockportMackem (I hope I do), but a massive congratulations from this Sunderland supporter for getting to yet another final. it seems as if that competition is made for MCFC. I don't like either of the Merseyside clubs and love it when anyone beats them - but the icing on the cake is to be beat by a club that my own get's on well with in the semi-final of a cup competition.

I was on late's at Nissan this week so I didn't see SSNHQ last night for regular updates (I don't have SkySports). I hear Sergio played very well indeed. Good to see De Bruyne score. Looked as if you weren't going to make it when Barkley scored in 20 minutes. I dare say with a fully fit side the score would have been more dominant?
Cheers for that mate! I've always got time for Sunderland fans- one of the best bunch in the country!

Out of interest, what is the general consensus from Everton fans about last nights results?? Anyone a member of any of their boards??

We have pissed off so many people

There's a 1000 plus comments on the Guardian's match day report. Lots of Everton comment there.

50/50 split between blaming the refereeing and blaming Martinez for an EFC that can't defend.

Unfortuatley Demichelis is not getting any younger and has not the pace to catch some of these younger players and ends up giving to many fouls away

Agree totally, but I still think he has something to offer in certain games. Defending the half way line he's going to get skinned every time, but defending the edge of the box I wouldn't swap him for any defender in the league. His positional sense, timing, awareness are second to none, he's good in the air and he commands the line well. Wish he was 10 years younger!

My favourite part of the evening was Zabaleta making his way from the right side of the pitch to the left over a series of tackles culminating in a crunching 50/50 tackle with two Everton players! A fucking hero!
