Post Match Thread: City vs Southampton

we get 50 pages when we lose and barely 15 when we win , very curious , perhaps being top of the league , qualified for knockout of champs league from another group of death with 2 games to spare , and a great chance of a League Cup Semi-Final appearance , and all with a horrendous injury list , is actually not too bad after all , well done the players and MP . Looks like the closet rags have crawled back under their rocks.

I've had my rant about the ref in the appropriate thread.
Not a great performance but a good boost to confidence after last weekend.
I thought Willy did reasonably well particularly in the shocking wet weather.
Yaya got caught in possession far too many times - he should be rested on Tuesday as he is looking jaded.
Sterling took on his defender a few times which was good to see.
The players put in a workmanlike performance which got us the three points - something we rarely achieve after a European game.
Apart from the flick that led to our third goal Bony was a bit of a passenger.
Really good to see Dave back on the pitch, just need to get Vinnie back asap to give some leadership in the defence.

Did exactly what we were slagging United off for. Not played great but got the points. The defence needs going over and going over again.
Except Utd would take a month to get 10 shots on target. The defence is missing hart, Zabaleta, Kompany and Mangala.

We lost the last 2 games and just played juve in midweek. A win was what we needed. If Silva and Aguero get a few more games under their belt then we might start looking like the team that started the season so well.

I just think defeats raise more questions/rants than victories.

Anyway, good result today. Was a bit apprehensive before the game given recent form and injuries, along with Southampton's impressive away form. Positives were Delph, De Bruyne and Otamendi, and also Silva's return although he was understandably a bit rusty. Still a few concerns, but I can't be arsed dwelling on any negatives after a win.

Also Utd fans will have gone back into their shells

Talking about the ref. - When Kolorov took the free kick in the first half - their keeper - not sure if he pushed it onto the bar - then he recovered to fall on the ball -
and 2 City players went into the net. The ref gave them a free kick ? - Why FFS ?. The keeper wasn't touched , he was happy to have the ball in his grasp.
Still can't see why a free kick was given to them - even after watching MOTD.

Think the keeper clutched his face, even if he wasn't touched, so can see why a free kick was given as the ref was unsighted. They'll err on the side of caution more often than not in those situations. As mentioned in the ref thread though, I thought East was awful for much of the game.

3 City players slid in on him, some foot (studs) up, I think it was a fair decision, and I was right behind it. He had to get the odd decision right.

Yeah, I don't think a free kick was unfair, particularly in those conditions.
