I know the reasons, but it is still strange to have such a positive reaction being aired about Labour being 50 seats behind and not able to form Government. I think Tories will have enough to go on governing, and I don't think they would dare call a re-election unless Labour undermined Brexit, which they have pledged in the manifesto not to do.
Try and look at the bigger picture here mate instead of from your own party political viewpoint.

Do you think the result isn't significant then?!

Obviously the result is significant as the Tories no longer have an overall majority. I just feel it could have been more significant and an overall win for Labour with a different leader. Obviously that's hypothetical and we'll never know how it would have turned out otherwise.

The real significance will depend on if Labour can keep the momentum going. Perhaps they will, or maybe a change in Tory leadership will propel them forward again.

Interesting times ahead.

Just woke up SNP have lost a lot of seats and what an unbelievable cock up by May.

Have to say May ran a terrible campaign and the media trying to paint Corbyn as a loser was a big error. The public don't like being brainwashed by the media.

So Boris or Davis to be next PM?

Because Labour have promised we will have Brexit. If they renege on that they will go back to where they were, in fact I think there would be a backlash. Remain and young voters have voted en masse, but they've voted for a more conciliatory tone to Brexit negotiations, but they've still voted for it yesterday. A proportion of new Labour voters are new young remain, but many are the UKIP returnees who have come back because the party are now representing their views on the subject.

Further, Corbyn has always, personally, been in favour of leaving the EU. For many years, even.

Brexit is happening, the only question is hard or soft.

Surely this is no longer even up for debate? Despite a vicious campaign of smears and lies from the usual suspects Corbyn has produced the best campaign and manifesto in my lifetime and inspired a new generation of young voters. This is all on him, he is the only reason why last night happened.

Given these results the Cons would be mad to go with Boris, the public have seen right through him and his majority in his constituency was halved. Davies is a much better option.

Gonna miss Robertson in PMQ's, he had May on the ropes every single week.

Not sure if it's the same in the UK, but here in the US the BBC home page says the Comservatives were "robbed" of a majority. Doesn't seem particularly impartial to me, although no great surprise after their pre-election coverage.

Did they rob themselves by calling the snap election?

May called this election early thinking she could stamp on labour increase her majority and do what the Fuck she wanted, instead she's left the country with a hung parliament. I'm not sure labour could have done any more but who knows.

Personally I can't see losing by over 50 seats to May, after her horrible campaign, as a great result really. Labour should have won under the circumstances and possibly would have done under a different leader.

Think you're living in cloud cuckoo land, although I do get your point about how bad the Cons were. No other person in the Labour Party could have achieved what Corbyn has done. If there's another GE in 6 months there's every chance he'll win because 1- He's starting to get more seats in Scotland and 2- All the mud that has stuck such as the IRA supporter nonsense will not stick again next time.

For Labour they were never going to win this, the momentum is where they've succeeded.

People laughed when I said Bojo for PM... its happening

Yep, i can see that occuring, maybe Davies but she's toast now, just a matter of time. Calling this GE was worse than Pearce throwing James up front!!

From a Labour point of view, that would be a dream scenario. He'd get trounced in any ensuing election.

They all said that about Corbyn. Interesting times ahead it seems.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this.

The Tories had a very small majority to begin with and despite an awful campaign still finished as the major party. With a better leader and competent campaign, they may well have gone on to win comfortably. There again, under a different leader, I doubt Labour would have started from such a low point and I feel they should have won but we'll never know for sure either way.

Anyway, I'm happy with the result and there are sure to be interesting times ahead.
