I'm in the same boat, Northern Ireland was overwhelmingly remain for a reason. Also, not just because my cousin is now an MP, but I can tell anyone for certain that most people who are involved with the DUP are nothing like the nutters quoted above. Similarly, there's a lot of amazing people involved with Labour who shouldn't be tainted just because Dianne Abbot is batshit insane.

Not sure why Labour are celebrating coming second to be honest.

It's good as far as I'm concerned. No hard Brexit likely and with luck a change in leadership before the next election. No way the Tories will allow May to run again. I also think a coalition is good as it reins the Tories in somewhat


Edit. The other good point from last night is the SNP losing so many seats. 11 Scottish Tories!?! Never thought I'd see the day. Sturgeon can put Indy2 to bed.

I was not expecting a Corbyn win.

But a soft Brexit is not really an option for the Tories, the party won't stomach it. Maybe Len Rum is right and we'll see the Tory Party split.

I do hope not.

Maybe we'll see a Labour party split if the disgruntled centrists decide they cannot continue within a such a left-leaning party. I imagine many were expecting and in a way hoping Corbyn to be annihilated, so they could get rid of him. With that not on the agenda now, what will they do? I say all of the above half tongue-in-cheek, but it does raise an interesting question. Are a majority of Labour MP's sufficiently "pleased" with the result that they will cut Corbyn some slack? Or will his tightening of his stranglehold on the party force them to do something else?

We could have the rather daft prospect of both the Tories and Labour split down the middle, with the farcical possibility of the party that manages not to self-destruct first, being the ultimate victor.

I'm trying to see positives as well mate. I voted for May through gritted teeth to be honest, and although I'd have preferred a majority, her being got rid of - when it happens - is certainly a positive in my book.

I have a lot of friends from NI, one or two of them extremely close, and they're all pretty devastated about it to be honest.
