Post Match Thread: Kiev 1 - 3 City

Sorry Mr P. The air turned blue in our lounge when Robbie Savage informed us that Fernandinho was playing on the right, with Yaya in the middle. That's it, I wisely announced to my son, he's screwed up again and we're gonna get beat.
How wrong could I have been.
All of them were brilliant but the old spine of Hart, Kompany, Yaya, Silva and Aguero were absolutely class.
Best performances for the club thus far from Otamendi, Fernando & Sterling, but having said all that MOTM for me was defo Fernandinho

Some people don't enjoy feeling happy. It's not their fault. It's just the way they're hard-wired. Like I said: I pity them.

There are 3 or 4 posters on this thread who need to have a look at themselves, if they cant enjoy tonight then I am not sure when they will. They need to leave the ridiculous sniping and retarded comments to opposition fans and pundits.

Just a shame I didnt watch with you mate, we could have had our customary man hug, when you usually cop a feel.

Tonight he's feeling Happy. I don't know where the other 6 are though ;-)

If there are still any doubters that the players are not interested in playing for Pellers anymore I really hope tonight has put that nonesense to bed. 100% fro them all.

Are you fucking kidding me?

I've just logged in and not read the thread. Is someone moaning after that performance? I don't think I dare look.

I expressed a bit of frustration that Manuel didn't bring anyone off early in the second half for a rest prior to Sunday, given 0-2 was a great result and we could have just closed it out and played on the counter - and our pressing noticeably faded in the second half, hence why the game became much more stretched.

But of course I'm delighted with the result. Just very conscious of the fact that fatigue has been an issue and Sunday is huge, plus we won't be afforded the luxury to rest players on Sunday knowing we have to go to Anfield for another huge game a few days after that in the league.

Have I missed something? Someone having a moan?

Spent the day in London today and had engineered things to get away in time to watch the game - to the point where I'd manufactured my last call being in Watford - and was going to ring you in the way up. Didn't leave Watford until 7pm so had to listen to the first half in the car and watch the second half in the Red Lion. Quite a fit new barmaid there tbf.

What a difference taking into account the actual individual game and thinking properly about the tactics for that game makes!

When some proper tactics are employed it gives a good base to give the players the chance to get things right and build confidence and trust in each other as the game goes on and not think about "what am I supposed to be doing?" "what's my teammate supposed to be doing?" "what are the opposition going to do?"...it's just positive and instinctive.

From there you can play well and win games.

And that's what we appear to have done tonight for the first time in a very very long time!

I've watched Chelsea v PSG and Arsenal v Barcelona and those were proper games.

You can only beat what's put in front of you. And it's a very good night but the standard of the performance has to be measured against the opponent. That is all I am saying.

With the greatest of (dis) respect, you are the most annoying poster I have ever had the displeasure of hearing. You try and be controversial at every opportunity, which has become tooth-grindingly predictable and persistently boring for those of us that understand the game of football. Being afflicted with your bizarre unsubstantiated endless drivel week in week out is enough to to drive any sane person into therapy.

I hope your only personality problem is attention-seeking, because if it's some kind of lame attempt at an intellectual 'tongue in cheek' performance, you are so wide of the mark.

I did exactly the same

Dixon and Keane being "harsh" now
No praise whatsoever - Kiev appalling
Kiev were terrible other than a ten minute spell in the second half. Let's not get carried away, we pretty much got the easiest draw possible and they hadn't played a proper game for three months.

But we were as good as they were terrible. We got the tactics right, the formation right, the team selection right, we defended well, we kept the ball when we needed to well, we created chances and scored some lovely goals.
