Post Something Interesting

I lost half my finger in spokes of bicycle when I was 6. My friend had stabilisers on his bike and stuck in a pothole so pedalling but going nowhere. I put my hand on back mudguard to push and hand slipped in chain. Took ring finger on right hand clean off. Hardly felt a thing. Went to neighbours for plaster (closest house) as thought cut my hand. My friend mum looked at it and fainted, another neighbour organised me to get taken to A&E by council lorry who were putting up new fences at the time. I was gutted as not going in ambulance with siren going. Bertie Peacock (who played for Northern Ireland, Celtic, Coleraine and managed Northern Ireland) visited me every day in hospital as his son Russell had broken his leg and on same ward. I was pretending I was Giacomo Agostini in North West 200 round Portrush, Portstewart, Coleraine when I got off my bike to help my friend. It was a Thursday practice of North West and Agostini not even racing. My friend at time was my best friend and we were friend's for years. He ended up hanging himself as his wife wouldn't let him see his kids. I recently got in touch with his daughter as she wanted stories or her dad.
That is an interesting story

Tornado ripped through Barrie Ont. yesterday afternoon, About an hour north of us.
This house was not a bungalow.

Ouch

The First World War wasn't actually the first world war. The first truly global conflict was the Seven Years War of 1756 to 1763.

Interesting fact about that war.

1,500 British soldiers died in battle or of wounds.
60,000 died from disease.
40,000 deserted.

Great story, very tragic the father killing himself and the daughter wanting to know him better
Can I push you for more details?

Archduke Ferdinand was found ailive in Vienna in 1923. Thr first world war was fought by mistake.

What kind of details, she put a post on social media asking for stories of her father as she didn't have many. I told her a few. We used to go to Isle of Man grand Prix motorcycle races when young with his parents. Told her stories relating to that, getting our first big proper bikes and I still remember our first go on them etc etc. Re him, he hit a slippery slope regarding alcohol unfortunately that's why him and his partner split up and that's why we drifted apart as well. I tried to help, he was getting into trouble, fighting, etc, that's not in my nature. His partner moved to England, he went over demanding to see his 2 girls, partner refused and he hung himself. I got a job when 16, started going to city, he'd no interest in working or travelling outside our area in Northern Ireland so as I say we drifted apart

Suppose most people know this, but if you put one grain of rice on the first square of a chessboard, and then simply double it (not square it, simply double it) then by the time you get to the last square, you would have to dump something in the region of 210 billion tons of rice on the final square. And that would be as high as Mt Everest.
