Postal votes in the UK (During covid and beyond)

I suspect AC's arguement is only the right kind of people can vote. Whatever that kind is...
And I don't suspect, I know, exactly why you want it. You know, unless your
feeble minded, that the politics you espouse will never gain traction, have a look at the results of the last elections. So instead of adjusting your stance back to a centre you despise, which has proved time and again to the only govt acceptable to the public, you double down, and start demanding changes to the system.
But we take comfort in the fact that it won't happen, Labour don't want it,
so which party are you going to cheer for to get the legislation through?

It’s pretty well known I’m a Tory, but anything that makes it easier to vote is a positive in a democracy isn’t it?

Online voting which is tied to everyone’s NI number and can only be used once would be my preferred choice and I’m not sure why anyone would be against it. We file our taxes, pay our bills and do just about everything else online.

Ok. So anyone can tell someone else, (and we have to take that someone's word for it), that they can go to a polling booth and put a cross next to
whoever. Or, the person himself can vote online, nobody ever needs to go to a polling station ever again.
There is a reason why lunacy like this has never been implemented, by any
government, here or anywhere else. That it's the usual crew of eternal losers rooting for it surprises no one.
So why's Gove harvesting postal votes? The Tories have more postal voters than Labour. It's part of how they win.

I'm not sure what you think is lunacy. Any postal voting? Then most governments are lunatic. Switzerland sends a ballot paper to each elector, and the vast majority return it by post (the few others can take the ballot paper to a polling station). Oregon has had postal voting only since 1998.

But don't let facts worry you.

If you look at the Conservative manifesto you will see that

... for people voting in the UK they want them to provide two forms of ID. This will obviously suppress the vote is some areas.

...for people living outside the UK (in their foreign homes) the Tories want to make it easier to vote and to remove the arbitrary 15 year limit on their voting rights.

Call me cynical but I believe that the Tories dont do anything unless it gives them a competitive advantage.

Yes, it could, particularly as an NI number gives more security, and I agree, but that wouldn't satisfy many on here, the argument will then switch to 'Well, the
poor haven't got access to technology, and some sections of society
have not been registered.' It's also not anything that's been suggested, to my knowledge, by the Labour party. They used to win the odd election, in fact he who's name is spoken of with disgust managed to win one of the three he won with an enormous majority, far bigger than what Boris & Co. got, and
nobody heard them calling for PR, or now this, at that time.

I've asked you before, what's your problem?

well I would say no political party does anything without it giving them some form of competitive advantage, but the Labour party seem hellbent on shooting themselves in the foot at every opportunity.

No, it's the easiest way to implement fraud, the only valid reasons for it
is absentee votes. If you can't be arsed to get round the corner to a polling
booth, don't bother.
It's interesting, but not surprising, to see Labour pushing for it.
