PPI claims

I got a letter offering £750 from RBS/Natwest yesterday , after a five week wait , quoting that it was a 'gesture of goodwill payment , and that they accept no liability' ......

but i've been reading that they are purposely fobbing people off with this particular amount , and the payout probably should be higher ....

i might just tell them to get stuffed , and refer it to the ombudsman .

I've heard that if you do go to the ombudsman , it costs the bank £850 , plus any incurred admin costs that may arise during the further investigation of your claim.

I never thought I'd qualify for this because everytime I've got a loan, mortgage etc I've always said no to payment protection due to thinking it was a bit of a scam. Anyhow, my pal at work has recently been told about something iffy that went on with his first mortgage and he's now looking at around £7k coming his way which includes credit cards, loans, store cards etc etc etc.

I've phoned one of these places up today because over the years I've had at least four loans, two mortgages, around 6 credit cards etc and it turns out I could be in for a bit of a windfall. Has anyone else done this? there must be a few on here.

Do it yourself.

Don't go through a company, they do exactly the same as what you would, nothing more, and take 25-35%.

I know, I've been discussing it in work this morning, trouble is I've not got the time to do it, work 8 hours per day, two young un's at home. I've had a look on that Martin Lewis site about doing it yourself but the way I look at it is I'm better off with 75% of £10k than 100% of fuck all.

Believe me mate, if you go through a claims company they still get you to do all the spade work so you'll spend as much time doing it through them as you would doing it yourself. Oh, and plenty of them won't touch the older claims as that might mean them actually having to do some work.

I used a company to claim, I gave them a list of old loan and card account numbers and they did the rest, they take 10% of anything awarded, and nothing if there is nothing to claim. They know all the tricks, have all the paperwork and do all the chasing. The products are so old I couldn't remember what I had and didn't have.

In a month since I claimed I've had two offers which I've accepted. Both from Egg banking, and it seems it was very common practice for Egg to add PPI, so if you've had an Egg loan, C Card in the past, make sure you claim.

I work for a claims management company and I visit clients in their homes too ascertain if they have valid claims, you would be surprised the amount of additional claims we find for clients.

You can do it yourself, no problem.

To answer a few queries, car loans that were sold through a garage, you need original paperwork and the garage still needs to be operating, without this no chance.

Mortgages, you can go after monthly or lump sum premium, if it was sold by a broker you go after the broker, but you need paperwork and proof of insurance.

Some companies you can't do anything if the insurance was originally taken out before 2005, even if the insurance is still in place.

Anything connected to the big banks is fair game, loans, mortgages, credit cards, store cards, hp agreements etc.

If you want any guidance or help send me a pm, I would gladly come and sort it for you (need to fund my City addiction, shameful plug ), you never know what you are entittled to if you don't give it a go.

If you don't want the £750, I can gladly take it off your hands!

I had a loan with Lombard direct.

For the price of a stamp I will find out in 7 weeks if I had PPI which I think I did.

Do it yourself.

A little tip. If you can't remember who you had cards or agreements with join experian for a free 30 day trial. Get your full credit report from them. This will give you all the companies who you had agreements with and also Head office contact details.
