We stayed in Hotel Venezia, not far from Wenceslas Sq. It was alright for the price basic but did the job. Bit of a walk down into the Old Town from there mind you and down to the river.

I went in March and it was snowing. It was absolutely freezing all week.

Be wary of African dealers on Wenceslas Sq.

i went for a long weekend in '99 and stayed at an old prison turned into a hostel. cheap if i remember it, a bit of chaos ensued but i suppose i caused it all when i think back.

I'm looking at booking this for Christmas time soonish, or at least the accom! I have never being before, can anyone recommend decent, cheap accom? Ideally more centrally located as only going for a couple of nights, don't want to spend hours travelling.

Anyone been before in December?

Went in 2007 and stayed at a cracking place called hotel duo. It's a couple of miles outside Prague centre, but the trains run from outside the hotel every 20 mins. Cheap bar with a good choice and two good restaurants. Sensible price too.

Avoid eating/drinking in the main square, where the astrological clock is, as it's 2 or 3 times the going rate.

The back streets around the City centre are full of little bars and restaurants so it's take your pick really.

A personal favourite is O'Che's, an Irish/Cuban bar, top food and beer and they show most prem league fixtures if you don't want to miss the match.
