Kompany and Aguero are way off being match fit and if the midfield is going to be Fernando and Fernandinho then we won't be competing in that department. I expect us to be slow and predictable going forward like we have been and for Chelsea to be organized and resolute (Something we're not) only for them to counter with the like of Hazard, Oscar & Costa on the break.

You have to remember Chelsea's side against Bradford was missing Courtois, Terry, Ivanovic, Hazard, Costa, Fabregas & Matic.

I really hope we have a Roma type game, defend really well and efficiently hit them on the break.

The first league game this year where I have no optimism about it.

Sorry but your optimism is neither here nor there, as far as the outcome of this match is concerned.
I'm positive that the real City will turn up for this one.

Sorry. Meant to add. Same goes for my confidence ;-)

Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

I am not worried about us going forward because I think it's guaranteed we will create enough chances to try and score a goal but I do worry about the state of our defence at the moment, it's an absolute shambles!

Fernando and Fernandinho in front of the defence don't inspire much confidence as well.

For me, it's the defending as a whole, that's the problem at the moment.
Fernando took a lot of stick yesterday, but he was the only players that helped out the back 4.
Yeah, i know he could have done better for the goal. I still think with our best defence back, and yes
that includes Mangala, we'll be in better shape for this game.

For me Lampard should not be anywhere near the 18 squad next week.. His head would not be on it and in a way I think he wouldn't want to be...
rubbish, he scored the equaliser at home against them. Definite on the bench, I think he could play a big part.

Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

In the scheme of things we are facing the Chavs at an ideal time. They were rocked yesterday and will have to field their strongest side on Tues night. If we get our act together, 3 points is not out of the question. Only question to be answered is which City will turn up

Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

With Yaya presumably out and Nasri out, we should defend deeper, cede some possession, and attack on the counter. This worked perfectly at Roma where they had 57% possession. I think this tactic will result in at worst a draw, and will allow our defense some cover as well as not requiring our defenders to sprint back so much chasing down the counter. Chelsea would struggle to break us down. Be interesting to see if Mourinho decides to park the bus in this one.

Possession-based high press is not the way to go at Stamford Bridge with Yaya and Nasri out.

Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

the players bizarrely look more comfortable playing away from home these days so i get a feeling they'll be up for this and will win it.Need to keep Hazard and Fabregas off the ball though.

Hart
Zaba
Kompany
Mangala
Clichy
Fernandinho
Fernando
Kolarov
Silva
Navas
Aguero

0-2.
