Hello Everybody,

I have been following this forum for some time now and I've decided to make an account in order to join the discussions here. I'm from belgium and I'm very happy that both De Bruyne and Kompany play for Man City. You guys will enjoy De Bruyne's contribution very soon when he is settled in. For me he is the best player we have for Belgium since Eden Hazard is overhyped!

As for tonights game, I think Man City will start this campaign with a win, altough I do think it won't be easy. Juventus did lose Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez but they brought in some young promising players. My formation for this game:

-----------------hart-----------------
sagna--vince--mangala--kolarov
---------touré---fernandinho-----
Silva--------De Bruyne----Sterling
----------------Bony-----------------

I choose De Bruyne in centre because that's his best position, but I'd make him switch position with Silva during the game, making it harder for Juve to mark them both.. I would keep Sterling on the right side as we will need his speed against Lichtsteiner... Bony to start since Aguero is injured but I would give Nacho a shot as well, his agility will be an asset against Juve's defence.

Anyway that's my take on it, I hope my English isn't bad so you guys can understand me :-)

cheers!

Your English is fine, Iheanacho can't play though, we had no room for him in the CL squad.

It's going to be interested seeing how Juve try to deal with us. Normally they slot Pogba in on the left to try cut out overlapping runs and passing from the winger and back. If Zab was playing this would hurt us, but with Sagna in and possibly KDB or Navas, I think the right side is up for grabs.

With that in mind, I expect us to tear them a new asshole down Sterling and Kolarov's side, as either Silva or Yaya will end up feeding them all day depending on how Juve set the middle up.

This might be one of those rare games where we are actually better off having Bony in there than Kun, so it could be a blessing in disguise. If Kun was in the CB's could push up a little higher, but Bony will have both pinned to their 18 year line, giving Silva and Yaya time to find the runs that are being effective.

Bony Vs Chiellini will be a fascinating match up and one I think Chiellini will relish. The 3 behind bony need to stay as close to him as possible and I think if we are going to win Bony will have to have a very good game.

Welcome! Your English is better than most people who speak it as a first language. Excited to see what De Bruyne can do in a city shirt.

welcome to the board mate

Can anyone tell me what's the situation with Fernandinho for tonight?

Can't imagine he's injured he looked fine on Saturday even at the end of stoppage time, was probably just rested/light training yesterday to ensure his energy levels were up to it tonight.

Welcome, good post.
Nacho brings pace and bags of energy and your right that he would do well against less mobile defenders.
As for KDB in the middle, we have struggled in the past with Silva in a wide position. He doesn’t really stick to any position and drifts in from the side, this can cause problems when teams break. For that reason Silva is preferred in the middle and so far we have used Sterling and Navas in wide positions who are more disciplined defensively and as a result we are a much more solid team this year. KDB is an outstanding attacking midfielder but we do need to keep some shape about the team.
