Pre & Post Match | U21 Derby - 11th February

Wow, I'm not sure why I'm that bothered by your post but I just couldn't let that last, spectacularly dimwitted sentence, slide by unchallenged.
You have written off the career of an 18 year old kid on the basis of 90 minutes, and done it on a public forum forum that knowledgeable City fans read, just think about that.
That's the first time I've seen the lad play but by all accounts he's a deep playmaker type who likes pinging ball out wide or over the top to runners (happy to be corrected by those who have seen more of him). That talent gets somewhat restricted when the opponent scores on the break after 15 minutes and spends the rest of the game parked across their 18 yard line. He didn't look great last night but he still put in a shift and was very close to getting past the bus in the dying embers.
Oh and he absolutely ran the the last EDS game against Liverpool apparently, with several good judges eulogising about him afterwards.
Finally there were several 'local' players born in Manchester playing for us last night and there's stacks more in the U16's and U18's, I'm only a casual follower of the kids teams and I'm aware of this. Try a little harder maybe.
I've only just read through the posts here and you beat me to it with this one. I've seen a little bit more of A. Garcia and he is way better than what everybody saw last night (as are the rest of them). Anyone judging the CFA on last nights performance (especially people who have never watched them before) are genuinely clueless.

That's the trouble Colin, because the game was on live it attracted people who wouldn't generally bother. Then because we didn't play well they are all shit.

I thought we were just too slow in moving the ball first half and they had plenty of time to get back in shape. There wasn't enough width in the team or movement in the front three.

The second half was an improvement and we tried changing the system by pushing Kean a bit wider and Angelino further forward. I just thought if we started the game with more tempo, we could have got something out of it.

Also, I do worry about Brandon. He seems to lack the self belief you need to make it in this game.

Barker didnt lack self belief against Liverpool. Maybe he didn't want to risk injury if he's got a chance of being on the bench on Sunday

The ragsU21 played more defensively that's why our players were blunted bit like the first team! As a club we should be learning to play a different way if teams play defensively

Doubt Simon Davies will be there for very long, wasn't impressed with the tactics at all. I just can't imagine Pep being pleased with that when he arrives.

Knock it around between the defenders for a while, then a big hoof up the park. We weren't playing into the centre midfielders anywhere close to enough. It's like Barcelona trying to play possession football but not giving it to Xavi or Iniesta. Just wrong.

A.Garcia - oh dear. Sorry but he isn't good enough. I find it hard to believe there's no local players at that level.
A.Garcia is very very good player . one for the future

most youth team players are inconsistent, but that changes as they get older and play more games. we clearly have a very talented bunch of young players, they just need the right guidance and to start progressing into the first team. even though pelle said young players will play, i really doubt they will - probably come on in the last 5 minutes..

on another note, the moaning on this forum atm is ridiculous, not this thread so much. theres just so much negativity on here about everything. i know I'm moaning about that, but its really making the forum not a great place to visit.

3 or 4 will be on the bench on Sunday, I think a couple will get small cameos and then start vs. Chelsea.

Pellegrini seems to be serious about not playing players in both Chelsea and Kiev game and with 13 fit players, he doesn't have much choice.

hopefully mate. i think a couple of them just need to move up a level now. I've seen players like Dier, borthwick jackson, dele alli all good enough for the first team. i think we have players who could be as useful even just for the squad.

One of the main characteristics of not only the first team, but the EDS, too, is that it is rare for the whole team to be on top of their game for a substantial part of both halves. There is invariably one or two players who might make a mistake and we pay for it, seemingly, every time. It might be that I am thinking back to the swashbuckling of Mancini Second Season, and Pellers First Season and comparing unfavourably. But I watched the last EDS game but one and we were pedestrian, reasonably solid but pedestrian, and then for a fifteen minute period in the second half we hit the button.
