Premier League Games 1/2/3 April '23

Potters being hung out to dry, been given a load of players that I guarantee he didn’t want. What do they expect?

Probably a lot more when you can field the likes of James, Fernandez, Felix, Kante, Chilwell and Havertz. These are top players.

Sure, but there are alot of managers out there who would rather have a load of 100mil players they didn't want than nothing at all. Potter should be doing better.

I’m not sure. At Brighton he had a solid unit, a team, players he wanted, players he signed off. This he’s got is basically a shit version of the galacticos and he’s been told he’s got to make it work.

I have no doubts he’s a top coach.

Doesn’t make a team though does it?

No but it's his job as a supposed top coach to quickly make them some sort of team. His record for them has been shocking however you try to shape it up.

I understand what you’re saying.

But, his mistakes are being magnitude by the mistakes the owners are making, like signing players he’s not signed off on.

You only have to look at PSGs business model to see it’s a joke.

He's a very good coach, yeah. But a top coach? Hmm, I'm not sure I'd go quite that far. If he is a top coach, surely he'd be getting more out of that collection of players than he currently is. That should not be an 11th placed team, not with the quality of players they have. Yes, they had a poor start to the season under Tuchel. But they had a graphic after the game tonight about Potter's record there. It's nothing great, to be honest. And that was including their flying start under him. I think the job was too big for him at this stage of his career. But he was never going to turn the gig down, was he?

I’m literally having the same discussion with my mate, no he couldn’t turn it down, maybe that’s the problem. Was it too early?, was it the wrong club? (absolutely).

Chelsea should be higher in the league, is it solely Potters fault they aren’t? Absolutely not, as I think you agree. They’re gonna follow the PSG model I think with these new owners.

Potter I think is out of his depth, maybe I’m contradicting myself here but this type of club isn’t for his young managerial career.

Potter has 41 premier league wins in 141 games, a top class manager.

Finished 16th, 17th and 9th never having a positive goal difference, a top class manager

A winless 10+ game league run in each of his seasons at Brighton, a top class manager.

The guy is and always was out of his depth.

Maybe not solely his fault, no. But he's not totally blameless here. I think it's 22 games he's been in charge (?), and they've won 7 of them. And only 21 goals scored in that time. Under Abramovich, he'd be under serious pressure now. Boehly (sp?) might be of the opinion that this season is a write off, and to regroup over the summer, spend another boatload of money on transfers and hope that the next campaign will be a huge improvement on this one. For Potter's sake, it better be. If they get off to an underwhelming start, he'll be in serious danger.
