Premier League Games 19/20/21 October

I've seen Ozil take apart Pep's Barcelona in a Clasico and dominate world cup semi-finals.

The whole "he hides in big games" thing is the most boring tired narrative in English football. He's an old school #10. No he isn't going to put in tackles or stick his boot into a midfield battle. That's only a problem if your manager is so clueless they ask him to.

Look at how Mourinho used him. He paired him with 2 solid defensive midfielders, or in big games when the midfield was key, he'd put him at the top of a diamond or on the LW. That way, he could stay up the pitch where he could make the killer pass straight away, and he could dip into midfield when he wanted and actually was really effective at stealing the ball to start counters when people weren't expecting him to be coming at them from behind.

Ozil is Arsenal's second best player, and the biggest improvement anyone could make to that side would be to get him playing again.

I think you are mixing up is and was. Ozil seems to have been beaten by the boo boys. His best days are gone and also don't forget football is
a team game and there have never been any players in recent Arsenal sides, that have been up to the class of those in that Real Madrid side.
I agree with you though, at the top of his game, Ozil was one great player.

But you also have Xhaka and Mustafi. Two utter donkeys. Luiz has always had an error in him, and what I've seen of Sokratis this season hasn't impressed me at all.

I'd just drop the donkeys. Torreira and Guendouzi would be a great midfield 2, Luiz and Sokratis/Holding are not great but they aren't as bad as Emery makes them look and January is not too far away.

I know he's not that player right now, but what he needs is a manager who'll come in and do what Pep did to Sterling post Euro-2016. Get on his side, build the confidence back up, stop asking him to do things he's never going to do and focus on his strengths.

wtf is Evra doing as a pundit on mnf ? its just a never ending conveyor belt of rag and scousers
To be fair, at least he’s there for sheer WUM purposes for Spitty since he’s the player who Suarez was racist towards.

Seema Jaswal is presenting on my stream though, a bit of a darling her

I think it was the other way round. The Arsenal player was going to floor before any contact and left his foot out.

Maybe. Once had the opportunity to play against a quality player and stuck a leg out and the bloke went absolutely flying. Knew I'd touched him from my own ineptitude, but I also realised then just how quickly they run and how it only takes the slightest touch to send them sprawling.

I noticed a lot at Madrid, a bit like Joe Cole at Chelsea, that Özil was substituted a lot. Footballers aren’t robots and aren’t all up to the same standard of fitness no matter how much training they all do (otherwise every athletics race would have the whole group in every race finishing together on the finish line). All footballers have different levels of fitness and he could be one of those players who just conserves his energy for when he really needs to exert it, or they put in the 70minute shift they’re capable of at the top level and then come off.
