Am I the only person who thinks that’s a bollocks rule? I get it if the defender plays it backwards, but if it gets a slight touch off the defender in a pass that otherwise goes where it’s intended, I don’t see why that should negate the offside.

I agree its offside but should it be deemed non intentional touch from milner when he is at full stretch in an attempt to play the ball?

It’s not interpreted in that way at the moment and never has been.

It‘d be a positive change if they adapted your suggestion though, imho.

Could the FA not devise an offside Klaxon that sounds when a player is off?
Surely that would work better than this long convulted process they currently have?

It's long and convoluted as they have to massage the angles and lines in order to get the favoured outcome.

I know what you mean. The other day someone in the VAR thread was arguing that it was very unlikely that VAR is used to attempt to manipulate match outcomes via marginal incidents. Couldn’t tell if they were just an innocent soul or pulling a clarkie.

They were probably asking for proof, which still hasn’t appeared.
