Whether it's the official directive or not, the linesman didn't flag because the line of thinking for officials these days is "Oh, VAR will sort it out". Was only a matter of time before someone got seriously injured.

The TV angle is further away than the linesman was and it was obvious it had gone out.

No flag came because the directive is essentially "if you're not sure, don't give anything".

Like our goal against the dippers last week. The linesman flagged for offside and couldn't get it up quick enough. Should have left it to VAR
