It wasn’t that Varane was offside, it was that in coming back from an offside position, Maguire placed a block on Rodriguez to stop him from defending Varane. It was a basketball pick.

Dean went to look to check he agreed with VAR, that Maguire was offside when the free kick was played, and interferes with play when he blocks off Rodriguez’ defensive effort.

Don't forget they're at the tail end of their easiest run of games this season. It's natural even a mid table side would come out with a fair few points. The only reason they reached 4th at all was because they played the bottom 3 and one of those twice.
