Premier League Vote (Updated)

Im going to be honest here people have started coming in with all sorts of legal stuff that goes far beyond my realms. Im not hostile to it really it was a report by someone about the FFPR being untouchable, we have to except it is going to happen, UEFA would not invest the amount of time and money they have to be batted away at the first case. If UEFA and the PL want to stop small clubs getting big and ruin it until its dropped that there perogative but we are fine

On a positive note, there are no free lunches because of FFP, and when clubs like Napoli quote silly money for Cavani, they will find they are stuck with him until the time that his Bosman day arrives, and in the meantime he could lose form or become seriously injured. Napoli will from now on be faced with a dilemma. Do they hang on to a prize asset, knowing that as his contract runs down, then so does his market valuation? Or do they now accept a lower bid in the knowledge that only two or three clubs would be able to meet it due to these new rules? It is also a possibility that these two or three clubs may have other players in mind anyway, and with squad sizes being limited, it may be that there would be no place for Cavani.

For the first time since Sheikh Mansour arrived, City should avoid being fleeced.

Also another reason why this is bad for the selling/smaller clubs, ffp has the potential to ruin the game

They did "invest the amount of time and money they have to be batted away at the first case" - over Bosman.

I can't think of one player brought in after MH left when City have been fleeced! Think of any player brought in by Mancini who has not increased in value while here. And I include Boateng and Savic!

Some good responses on here. For myself, I would be far happier if the rules went on to specify a reduction in balance sheet debt, something that affects MANU more than the rest. I have no problem in any club spending money if they have it and have no need to borrow it, but if debt is there, this should be addressed first and foremost. Anyone who has trouble in paying a mortgage and is worried about losing their source of income will understand this, and it is no difference in the world of football. If clubs such as Chelsea or Arsenal fail to make the Champions League, they will experience a huge drop in income, ndpand if the new rules prevent qualifiers from progressing into the knock-out stages of the competition, the shit will surely hit the fan.

That was the orriginal goal of UEFA's ffp, but it turned out they couldn't enforce it for legal reasons. So they settled for this moronic system because somthing is better than looking completly inept.

My worry from the start isn't how it's going to effect us. I'm not to worried about that because I have faith in our owner. The people running the club are smart fellas and had a long term plan from the start so this shouldn't effect us much. My worry is for clubs like Ajax, Benfica, Porto etc.. who have been financing their clubs with big money player sales. If they can't make those 30-50 mil deals for players their clubs are going to be in real trouble. They are just hanging on from a competitive standpoint as it is. They don't have the big tv contracts to keep them going so if the big tranfer funds go away those clubs and those leagues are going to become even more irrelevant. CL will end up losing it's luster if the same 4 clubs are in the semi's every year. People will stop tuning in to the early rounds as a result. The possibility of a small/medium sized club knocking off a big club is what makes the FA cup/CL etc.. great. Without that possibility the whole thing becomes pretty pointless.

Sinclair is still at the club and according to reports City will get at least their money back if he leaves this summer. Garcia is in his first season at the club and in the Pl and it is far too soon to judge his success or resale value, but after a slow start he's looking good. Nasri has been disappointing, but by that I mean not the player we thought we'd bought, but again there'd be a queue of clubs for him if he leaves and the price will be high. Kolarov got injured against Spurs on his debut and was out for quite a while, but when he came back was a member of the FA cup winning team and a valuable one. He's lost out to Clichy over the last two seasons but has come in and played well whenever called on. He has weaknesses defensively, as all full backs do these days but going forward he can be excellent. As for Milner, we bought a regular England international for which anyone pays more and he's proved an excellent player for City. I accept that "who has not increased in value while here" is not exactly what I meant, but we have never been fleeced under Mancini, and overwhelmingly he's bought excellent players who have done well at and for the club, though in a rather depressed market their resale value may be lower.

Increasing in value is one thing. Actually receiving this valuation is another. It's rather like selling a house. We may have our own idea of it's valuation, but if their is a shortage of potential buyers, that valuation may not be realised, especially if there is a desperate need to sell. And with FFP now making everyone sit back and think, player valuations are sure to fall. Not just for us, but for everyone. With high salaries and, potentially, players sitting out their contracts and leaving on Bosmans, clubs will become desperate. FFP is fine in principle but the reality lies in it's unworkability.

It isn't actually fine in principle, is it? "Fair" play might be, but outlawing important elements of the balance sheet in the interests of a cartel...
