President Joe Biden

A Downing Street spokesperson said: "The prime minister spoke to Joe Biden, president of the United States, this evening.

"He congratulated the president on his inauguration and the two leaders looked forward to deepening the close alliance between our nations.

"The prime minister warmly welcomed the president's decision to re-join the Paris Agreement on climate change, as well as the World Health Organization and the COVAX programme to ensure equitable access for vaccines.

"They noted the significant challenges facing the world during the pandemic, but also the unparalleled opportunities to build back better and greener together. The Prime Minister praised President Biden's early action on tackling climate change and commitment to reach Net Zero by 2050.

"Building on the UK and US' long history of cooperation in security and defence, the leaders re-committed to the NATO alliance and our shared values in promoting human rights and protecting democracy.

"They also discussed the benefits of a potential free trade deal between our two countries, and the Prime Minister reiterated his intention to resolve existing trade issues as soon as possible.

"The leaders looked forward to meeting in person as soon as the circumstances allow, and to working together through the G7, G20 and COP26 this year

If trump had been re-elected Boris would have said the opposite. The parasite.

I missed this gem of post Brexit unicornism from Christopher Hope, chief political correspondent (!) for The Telegraph offering seven reasons why Johnson and the incoming US President will "get on just fine". Most of the seven were arguable but this is Torygraph fantasy:

"Biden's great, great, great grandfather, Edward Blewitt, left Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland for America during the Irish famine 170 years ago, which could mean he is well disposed towards Great Britain."

It was nice of downing at to supply a picture proving the PM knows how to hold a phone. That statement was written by Stratton mind.

Irish Joe probably reminded Boris of his heritage and told him he won't be getting any favours off him.

everyone I have ever met with Irish heritage/links has nothing but warm feelings towards Britain - well England specifically - based upon what they learn about the potato famine. Not.

Christopher Hope is a moron if he truly thinks that what he wrote bears any connection with the truth - thats before we get into Bidens personal dislike of Johnson after what he said about Obama.

God forbid our Prime Minister having a good relationship with the leader of America.

On whether Churchill's bust should be in the Oval office...

Then:
In a tabloid newspaper article in 2016, Johnson, who was mayor of London at the time, suggested Obama’s decision may have been a “snub” to the U.K. that showed “the part-Kenyan President’s ancestral dislike of the British Empire.”

Now:
On Thursday, Johnson’s spokesman said the choice of art on display in the White House is for the president to decide. “The Oval Office is the president’s private office and it’s up to the president to decorate as he wishes,” Jamie Davies told reporters.

As far as I know, the bust that Obama didn't have on display was a loan from Blair to GW Bush, and the loan had expired at the time.
