Well, there's something of the 'sacrificial lamb' to this pick. I think Biden knows, full well, Jackson will be opposed and, as you say, stunt this until after the midterms.

Biden can say he 'tried' and it would not be a lie because he's made a progressive choice. The GOP can still agree a Black female judge, but one more conservative and they, too, would be 'moving with the times'.

I disagree.

Graham made numerous positive remarks about Michelle Childs - a black woman, from the same state as he (South Carolina) who was on the short list of potential Biden Supreme Court nominees.

Graham is a political creature above all. He must have seen support for a fellow South Carolinian as politically advantageous. Graham has no problem supporting a black woman so long as it seems to be to his advantage.

I shouldn't be. Anyone should be able to look at the facts and reach that obvious conclusion. But that's not the reality we live these days. :(

You are right most blacks do vote Democratic. But whether that means Democrats advance their causes or not, I'd suggest is a question one would have to examine the evidence on based on the outcomes for black people, rather than rhetoric.

There are a number of ways one can test that. But I suppose we shouldn't derail the thread too much.
