>> Because the ideas he pushes at the policy level are quite popular with Americans. Contrary to popular media speak.
Trump is a populist - he simply tells his base what they want to hear. Regardless of fact.
You are saying something that's true of all politicians as if it's true if just Trump.
And of course that's popular among a certain audience.
The media does not claim otherwise.
Fair enough.
>> The truth is it though, it wouldn't matter who led the Republican party. Whoever it is will get similar treatment.
Much of the media is left-leaning and that sentiment will invariably creep into reporting - yes. But Trump isn't simply a Republican - he's a criminal; a narcissist; rules by "gut feeling"; largely ignores advice; single-handedly upended decades-long American international policy; is petulant and vindictive. He is ill-suited for leadership of a nation.
And yet the Media has called Glen Younkin and Desantis mini-Trumps. Is either one any of the above to your knowledge?
As for his international policy. I see little wrong with it. He made a half joke half true statement at CPAC. Under Bush, Russia invaded Georgia, Under Obama, Russia annexed Crimea
, under Biden they attacked Ukraine. He is the only American President of the 21st Century under whom Russia did not invade anyone.
And as far as Foreign policy is concerned,
And this has been accurately reported - on a truthful basis. No other US President has had so many members of his own cabinet and appointed officials publicly stating precisely the same thing - he's unfit for office.
Maybe he is. His policies though haven't been. Again, U have to distinguish between the man and the Presidency. His policies put heavier sanctions on Russia, some of which Biden lifted. He was the one who opposed Germany's plan to become 75% oil dependency on Russia. For someone who's a 'Russisn agent" he sure seems to do more to oppose Russia than those who are apparently Anti-Russian.
If a Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney were to run against Biden, the press wouldn't be running news about how unqualified they were for office, and how morally bankrupt they were (queue for example, Access Hollywood in Trump's case; or hell, that he's paid several high-profile hookers to keep silent about his extra-maritial entanglements).
Maybe not those attacks. But less we forget, Romney already ran. He was deemed a racist and homophobe for being a part of the Mormon religion. A carpet bagger for running a hedge fund. And an out of touch Billionaire, who couldn't understand regular people. The whole point of these claims was to conclude, he is Not fit to be President.
Same with Pence, a homophobic religious nutjobs who won't meet with women for business reasons without a chaperone. This, he is sexist and a detriment to women.... You can vary anything into an attack. We all know this
Again, I'll conceded Trump himself is unique. But his administration wasn't. The fact that I couldn't bring myself to vote for him in spite of agreeing more with him than any viable Democrats. Says something. But I'm not silly enough to pretend most of this isn't just political attacks as gamesmanship. It is.
No - you're quite wrong. Some portion of the press coverage about Trump is obviously politically motivated - but most of it is simply reporting fact.
Dude, during the heydey of Trump's Presidency, I listed a bunch of commonly accepted claims about Trump that clear evidence shows to be false and yet Station after station repeated it ad nauseam.
A lot of Trump supporters like him specifically because they hate the media and their narrative.
When I showed my wife video evidence that Trump didn't call white Supremacist good people, she was confused. Coz she was absolutely certain he did. And couldn't understand why anyone will falsely report it.
She's a medical doctor. Granted, not very political but she's leans left naturally. The consequences of being Black, Female and College educated. It's almost impossible not to be left unless you are politically active.
Anyways, I look forward to a Trump free 2024. I'm tired of defending the facts for someone I don't like.
