President Joe Biden

It's not elitist, it's intentionally dishonest.

For starters, about 10,000 people a year are born in DC, they aren't moving there and choosing anything.

Yes, people have babies and babies don't get to choose where to live or anything for that matter. And that proves I'm being intentionally dishonest?

If it's a bad argument I'm fully on board with admitting such, it was only a preamble to a suggestion anyway. The problem is too many come steaming in like fundie christians proclaiming other posters as sinners with ulterior motives. Discussions just turn into a game of how long a poster can be arsed to put up with it.

watch someone reply with something like "we just know good from evil", like a true believer

Never said it was fine, it's just a reality and this specific argument/PR exercise about the SC has been used by both parties for decades.
I don’t see any comparison in the tactics Trump is employing continually, with Biden to be honest.
Trying to equate them is absolutely absurd.

I’m glad I’m not American, as I see the genuine concerns that some have in here as quite worrying for democracy and the democratic system that you profess to have.
It’s worrying for the wider world too.

Trump and his enablers are vile and dangerous. America is going down the tubes.

The argument is just absurd given the state of the political process today compared to context of the Federalist Papers. There's a reason the Constitution has an amendment process, it was always intended to change. Even Republicans don't pretend this is the reason they're anti statehood anymore.

I'm not defending Trump, not even talking about him - or Biden for that matter, just stating a fact surrounding this Supreme Court controversy. Over the decades both sides have held up the "Thurmond Rule" myth when it suits and ignored it when it suits

And my point on same in a Biden thread is that one side doesn’t quite seem like the other from where I’m sitting. When you have Republican senators saying in 2016 use these words against me if I ever do otherwise ( I’m paraphrasing) and it’s there on video for all to see.
But it means absolutely nothing. Because lying has been so normalised and legitimised by Trump and co. as a means to an end.
People don’t even bat an eyelid anymore.

The argument of, sure they all do it, is also legitimising who can get away with the most wins. America is heading in a sad direction, if it’s electorate can’t do anything about changing things.

Precisely this. Spot on. In the end, to the point of a number of posters here, the ENTIRE SYSTEM is based on TRUST. Trump has fundamentally eroded trust in ALL aspects of government, ALL of it.

He must be removed. And replaced with Joe Biden.
